12S3 is a 1 1/8 oz wad.........as far as using the 12S3 I'd bet that the crimp would be dished in.

It will work fine in the STS and one piece AA. I don't think it will work with the new two piece AA hull. JRM

There might be a reason that there are only a couple of loads listed for one ounce loads with those hulls and the 12S3 wad. The 12S0 would be a better choice, although I wouldn't select them for a tapered hull. I would use the 12S3 for 1 1/8 ounce loads in straight walled hulls and use a wad originally designed for the tapered hulls AND one ounce loads if you are going to load one ounce loads in tapered hulls. You might be able to make the 12S3 work, but why bother when there are so many better choices. Be sure to use reliable data AND weigh your powder drops.

AHA! You rediscovered the original 1 ounce target load wad! Actually it was designed as an 1 1/8 wad for the just introduced Federal Gold Metal. But way back in the late 70's and early 80's there were not any wads for 1 ounce target loads. There were a few for 1 ounce field loads, but they were designed for very high-base field hulls and were useless for loading target loads in target hulls. Or you could add a thin 20 gauge filler wad to the bottom of the shot cup of an AA wad, or some puffed rice.

The 12S3 was the first wad that could easily be used for 1 ounce targets loads. Roster alerted us all the wad. We were very pleased when it became available. Before that, 1 ounce target loads were mostly just a 'good idea'.

There were 1 ounce field loads, but were very high velocity and kicked as bad, or worst, than 1 1/8 target loads. And the hulls they came in weren't worth a wit for reloading.
