    How do you get that cap off the end of the magazine in order to free the spring? Like to be able to reuse the cap after I get it out, any help here appreciated

    thanks

    Just push it down and turn with a screwdriver , when you push down far enough you will see the retainer grooves in the mag tube or your finger . Hold on its under pressure. This is for the new style with no detent ball in the forend . If old style , pry out the split collar on onside and work it around. HOLD ON to the spring and retainer just ease it out ! Jeff

    Depends on which kind.

    Does it look like this;

    Or is it plastic with "saw teeth" on the top?

    That is the older style. It is a press in fit. The wood is the top of the dowel that restricts the magazine to two shells for waterfowl hunting. You can push a screwdriver into the hole, pushing the dowel down and pry around until the metal cap comes out. It is under spring pressure, so don't let it pop out and get lost or break something, like your face. It presses back in. I get it started, then pound it gently back to flush with a plastic mallet.
