What is the difference other than the chokes between a 1100 competion with ProBore choke and a 1100 classic trap light contour with Rem Choke? Will either or both fit on a 1965 1100? Will all non 3" 1100 12Ga barrels work on a 1965 1100? Thanks for your help. Which choke is better? Pribbs

Never had a barrel that didn't fit. HMB

First off Rem-choke and Pro-bore are different animals. Different design threads and not interchangable. Haven't tried the fit part of the question, mine are all old ones!!!

I have many (10+) 1100 barrels ranging from slug to full trap. I have at least four 1100s. All barrels interchange without problem on any of the guns. All my guns and barrels date to the 70's and 80's. No experience with light contour barrels.

Ducky is absolutely correct about Rem-choke and Pro-bore being different animals. Marc

Light contour barrels are lighter and have a smaller outside diameter. They will fit in any 1100 receiver but will require a light contour forearm. JM

They will both fit the gun in question but to the best of my knowledge, a light contour barrel is a std bore barrel and the comp barrel with pro bore chokes is back bored.

The extractor cut is wider on the Classic Trap and is the same width as the 11-87. If you put an older barrel on the Classic Trap, you would need to widen the extractor cut or install the older and narrower extractor.
