I am now loading Claybuster CB1118-12 in AA and STS hulls with 1 1/8 oz of shot and 17.5 gr of Red Dot. Want to drop down to 1 oz same powder and hulls. What is the CB wad for 1 oz? Also using Win primer.

    ntgr8,

You will be happier with the Downrange XL-1 or Green Duster wads if they are available in your area.

Load data is on the Alliant web site.

For more information Claybuster has a website with photos of their products and brief application information. Since most of them are clones, the products are grouped in categories by style: Winchester, Federal, Remington, etc. They do make a clone of the TGT and it works well in AA, STS/Nitros, and Gun Clubs.

Duster also has a site but the info is pretty rudimentary.

For the AA's, just drop back a tad on wad pressure and use up the wads you have. Crimps will be dished a bit but that may just help with your pressure and velocity consistency. The Remingtons would take a bit more work, but I made them work too.

HTS is right. A friend did not know he was dropping 1 oz into the Claybuster 1118-12 wad and he got good results. He was using 19 grains of Promo though.

I use the Down Range DRA-12 red wads for 1oz loads. I get better crimps with these than I did with the green ones.
