What load is best for singles?

The recoil calculator shows these loads to be almost identical in terms of recoil. If the objective is to break all of our singles targets in order to reach the Saturday night shootoffs, which of these factory loads would you rather shoot for tournament singles? For purposes of this discussion, please do not consider averages. We are not interested in average, only of increasing our chances of breaking 100% of the targets. Thanks for your input

The question is, what do you think would give you a better chance? I've broken a 99 with 1oz GC's at that speed. It's not the shell, it's the shooter.

To each their own.....With that said, back when I was shooting, my scores rose quickly when I went to 1 ounce loads at about 1150. I feel like they work well for me, save some recoil over multiple shots and do a little extra for the environment, along with reduced component costs.

I think, like every other load, you have to go to the patterning board & see if there is a big difference with your barrel........if not I would go with the 1 oz.

It would be the one that breaks the targets until you miss and then the other would be best, and so on. Yogi

    1 1/8 oz

You stated your objective is to break all of the targets.

Why would you even consider 1 oz loads if increasing your chances of breaking 100% of the targets is your goal?

I thought breaking 100% of the targets is everyone's goal.

You forgot to put in 7 1/2's, 8's, or 9's in the payload, as that will stir the thread up a bit also

    I took the bait again.

FISH ON now try to reel me in.

As for saving the environment, the more lead you shoot at the club is more money they will make when the lead is harvested.

You probably won't be able to tell one bit of difference between the two.

my personal preference would be the 1oz loads. It's the only one I've broken 100% of the targets with.

I'll buck the trend and go with 1 1/8. Why?
    Because 1 3/16 is illegal.

Tractorboy, Since most targets are lost by shooing behind them, do you think shooting a slower shell will help you break more targets??? Now after digesting that I still think that the 980 fps 7/8 oz. loads, Low recoil/ low noise loads by Winchester still crushed targets at 16 yards. Only you can find out what works for you. Good Luck with that one. Break-em all. Jeff

Wish it was easier to find/buy 1 oz loads-
I usually shop at Academy and all I see is 1 1/8
There is some of the low noise/recoil shells I liked
but have no idea what is in them other than I think 26 drams which I think is the powder
    no clue shot charge-

Your best chance to break 100% of the 16 yard targets you center in the shot swarm requires maximum payload (1 1/8 oz) and quicker loads will also help, I would recomend 1 1/8 oz of 8s @ 1150.

No, the Winchester Low Noise, Low Recoil shells have 26 grams of shot, which is about 15/16ths of an ounce.

If you want to get to the shoot offs on Sat. I wouldn't shoot either load. 3357 gave you the minimum load to use.

Also another thought if you go to a slower load such as the 1090-do some patterning worki, you most likely will find out you'll need a tighter choke, than the 1 oz @ 1180.

They say more soldiers on your side or players on your team you have a better chance to win. How many BB's do you get with each one? That answers my question.
