    FOLKS ,

While I'm drying after Irene >>>> does anyone use 700X for 1 1/8 ounce loads . I know it is a fast powder & I would guess the pressure is a little high . I'm just wondering if anyone uses it ? I've got a full 12 pound keg I currently use for 1 ounce , but never have I used it for the 1 1/8 loads .

    Thanks for your help. HIT

    18.5g 700x, CB 1 1/8 wad, 1 1/8 oz shot in STS hull 1210fps average.
18.5g 700x, Wind Jammer WJII 12100 wad, 1 oz shot in STS Hull 1250 fps average.
18.5g 700x, Fed SO wad 7/8 oz shot in Fed Paper hull 1325 fps average.

I have been loading these 3 recipes for several years no problems. The 1 1/8oz load is alittle "punchy" but not terrible.I can also get approx 7-10 uses out of 90% of the hulls. The 7/8 oz load IMO is one of the best Bunker or Wobble trap loads that I have seen (fast and very little felt recoil). Also great for FITASC.
I would not start out with the 18.5g for the 1 1/8oz loads, work your way up to it starting around 17-17.5. Just my 2 cents.
    Regards, Joe

Raz has the same formula I used before I dropped down to 1oz loads. I still use 700x powder and love it.

Red Dot & 700 X were the 2 most popular 1 1/8 reloading powders for many years. Clyde

Nightman , I like 1z , tgt wad , remington primer, 16.3 ,#28 mec bushing . They go about 1180. Smokes them, plus its a great shot first shot of doubles

Years ago, Remington/Peters RXP factory loads (1 1/8oz) used 700X. Don't know the recipe but they worked well. Should be several applications in current reloading manuals. Marc

I used 18.5 for 1-1/8 oz for years. Good load. Last five years I dropped to 1oz with 17gr. works well for me. Wild Bill

There was a time when I did a lot of chronograph work with shot shells; always looking for perfection. The one powder that gave me the most consistent results, one digit standard deviations usually, was 700X. I shot 700X for many years with good results. Clays seems easier to find today and I have no complaints with it either.........breakemall
