The side rivet if that is the correct name has broken out of my receiver, its the round stub that fits into the machined grove on the barrel. Is it a big deal? Can it be replaced at a reasonable cost or is it better to scrap the receiver?

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Mike,

Many years ago (20+) I had this happen. Remington replaced the receiver. Might be worth a try.

The pin is only there to help align the barrel while installing. It serves no purpose once the barrel is installed. It will not hurt a thing to use it as is.

Some consider it fugly, but a gunsmith can install an external screw there with the nose turned to fit the groove.
