Looking for a good 1 1/8 1145 fps load with Green Dot Win 209 primer and Windjammer wad.

Go to Alliant's website! I pasted above as it seems you may not know how to find it?

    Ultra Man,

Use 18 grains of Green Dot in a AA hull with the components you have listed. This recipe is right out of Alliant's reloading guide. Also try 18 gr (1145fps) or 19.5 gr. (1200fps) of Green Dot with the Win 209 primer and a WAA12 wad in a AA hull. If you like to smoke your targets, you will not be sorry!

Try 19.0 to 19.5 grains. That should get you in the ballpark.

STS hull, W209 primer, 19.1gr Green Dot, Windjammer or Fig-8 wad, 1 1/8oz West Coast mangum shot. Absolutely the best handicap load I ever shot. Bump it to 20gr if you want 1200fps.

Green Dot is an outstanding HCP powder. Loading STS, WW primer 19.5 gr. of Green Dot and cap it off with a DownRange Versalite wad and you may have, in my humble opinion, just reloaded one of the best HCP loads available. It will push 1 1/8 loads at 1200 fps.

What would substituting The Win. primer with a Cheddite do? There is no info on Alliant's loading chart for a Cheddite primer. I'm thinking of loading an STS hull with 19.5 gr. of Green Dot, WT-12 wad with a Cheddite primer.

I started using the Cheddite 209 instead of Win. 209s this year as Win. 209s were scarce as hens teeth in this area. They seems to work fine for the 500 shells shot so far. Win AA hull, WAA12 wad and 19.5g Green Dot. I use a MEC #33 bushing to get the 19.5 g. charge. Don

I have been using Cheddite primers for over a year now and have not had any problems at all. I am using American Select and am considering changing to Green Dot for a little lesser felt recoil, plus hoping to get a tighter pattern. Hope it works.

I also have been working on this load with Green dot and currently in my MEC 650 and the closest bushing I could get to drop to around the 19 mentioned above was a 32 at 18.8 grains. I have shot a couple flats now with AA hulls and Win 209 primers, Claybuster Windjammer wads 1 1/8 #8 shot and they really crush targets nicely. The longest I have shot them so far has been from the 22 yard line, and the results from there are excellent as well. good luck!

Nutnbutsmoke- 18.8 grains of Green Dot is close enough to 20 grains, but if you want to be more accurate, a rat tail file can quickly enlarge your bushing.

I have a lot of bushings and everyone that I use has been enlarged with a file or reduced with finger nail polish. Many of them have suffered both treatments.
