Thanks to all the shooters Attending the Fennville Grand!! We got a little backed up on Sunday but everyone was cool about it. Tim Schanz showed off his ability to break off tiny pieces of targets-prompting his partners to Double Gun him, He got me and Mike B in the same weekend,I wish he could crush the birds so there's no doubt about the hit!!Perry
Here are a few more photos of the shoot. We had great weather and everything went relatively smooth considering how much was planned for the weekend. Thanks to everyone for coming out!
There was a older gentleman at our club (Reed City Sportsmans Club)this past Sunday that shot with us.I think hes from down your way,but has a cottage near Baldwin. He asked me why I wasnt down at the Fennville Grand.I said I never heard of it.Just what is the Fennville Grand and is it a annual event? From what he said I was missing out,but dont know what I was missing out on.Could you tell me a little bit about this shoot? I might have to put it on my calender for next year. Thanks...Moe
Hugo, The Fennville Grand is a weekend of trapshooting games centered around several two-man protection calcuttas and great food, held at the Fennville Rod and Gun Club. This shoot is an annual event that is increasing in popularity among the shooters in sw Michigan and northern Indiana. It is a fun time and the BS flows liberally. You see many more smiles than frowns at this shoot. There are no registered events, shot size is optional, as is DE and payload size. If you like this type of shooting, this is the shoot to attend. Break 'em all! Tom Ruble
Best shoot of the year, run vary well almost without a hitch,my thanks go out to all who had a hand in running the shoot. The trap kids who help to run this shoot are the best I have ever seen and my sinser thanks go out to all of them.
The dream team lived up to the hype on Saturday then came Sunday I am not sure what happened but they did not look like a dream team it was more like a nightmare. But we have to give them a hand for winning the team event good shooting boys.
Let's just say we might have a new team name next year. Hang Over Heroes? Hang Over Zeros? Bud Light Blues? Team AA? (And I'm not talking about our classification) I'm sure there will be some more team names begin to pop up.
But next year, as the captain, I will be coming up with guidelines you will need to obtain in order to shoot on the dream team.
1. In bed by 2:00 am the day of the shoot.
2. NO MOTEL PARKING LOT PARTY'S.
3. All members must wear MP3 players.
Thank you to all of the shooters, their patience and great attitudes - our club surely appreciates it. Everybody was very understanding when we got backed up with the 5 man teams on Sun and had to push the calcutta back quite a bit.
Also a huge thanks to all of the club members that volunteered to pull this off and keep things running smoothly. It would be impossible without the great people we have working at the club. Everybody pitched in and just kept smiling.
I'm feeling a little left out - there were some great shooters on the double gun board but I didn't make it - oh darn! Thought we were going to run out of room on the board ... Instead of a bench we needed bleachers!
Thanks Tom...Sounds like a fun time and I may have to come down next year.As soon as you know a date for it could you let me know so I can put in for the time off of work for it? We have to have our vacation days requested by April to insure we will get the dates requested. Thanks and hope to see ya at the team shoot. Hugo aka "Moe"
We tie it in with the second Sunday of August so whatever that date is next year it will be the Sat & Sun, block it in. We always have a calcutta the 2nd week of the month but in Aug tie it in with the Grand - started a while back as a Bd. members birthday celebration and grew from there.
Hope you can join us next year. It ain't perfect but it's a lot of fun!
Thanks Cindy..My days off are Fri. and Saturday,so I'll be sure to request a vacation day so I can shoot Sunday as well. Will be looking forward to it.Until then stay safe and shoot straight...Hugo "Moe" Rinke

The weekend of Friday August 27th through Sunday August 29th will be THREE FULL DAYS OF SHOOTING..
FRIDAY AUGUST 27th - our monthly Friday Night Shoot with our 50 bird A/B Draw with: 7:30 cut-off time with protections starting around 5:00.
SATURDAY AUGUST 28TH - 50 bird draw protection, club opens for shooting (protection and games) around noon with 2:30 the sign-up cut-off for the calcutta.
SUNDAY AUGUST 29TH - WALLEYE DINNER with a 75 Bird PICK YOUR PARTNER CALCUTTA !! Calcutta sign-up cut-off is noon I believe.
So mark you calenders for another great weekend of shooting at the Fennville Gun Club!
Truly a great weekend! This is without a doubt the biggest and baddest shoot around. I never thought I would see a shoot bigger than the New Years Day shoot but this one is truly giving it a run for it's money!
A BIG thank you to all the club members at Fennville who volunteered their time so that the shooters of SW Michigan and Northern Indiana could enjoy a great shoot. I would list all the names but I would hate to forget anyone. Thank you to everyone.
Thanks to the pullers who do a WONDERFUL job in running the shoots out the door as well. Their the best around. I haven't seen pulling that good since those two kids at Coloma a few years back.
Also, thanks to all the sponsers who purchased a sign to support the team shoots. This made it a big hit with all the shooters. If you get a chance be sure and thank these guys. (Except Essenburg. I heard he's going to charge some poor old lady an extra $100 to fix her toilet just so he can pay his sign bill.)
Hope to see everyone at the next WMCC shoot. The circuit is without a doubt growing which is great to see.
Thanks Matt & Eric for great posts - this is what keeps us going.
But - the Sat shoot on Aug 28th is a 50 bird draw calcutta, not protection but protections will be going on ahead of time. Sorry BorntoScore, I get to correct you sometimes!!
Hey guys. Great pictures. I grew up just a few miles from the Fennville club and wander over to that part of the state every few weeks to see my folks. Looks like alot of renovations have gone into the club house. I sure don't remember it looking that nice 25-30 years ago!
And it looks like the rifle range is still sitting down at the north end.
