Does anyone know what the choke restriction codes are for Browning? I think 1 asterisk is full and 2 asterisks would be Improved Modified. Is this right? Thanks, Bulge.

BROWNING CHOKES AND THEIR CODES (ON REAR LEFT-SIDE OF BARREL)

* designates full choke (F).

*- designates improved modified choke (IM).

** designates modified choke (M).

**- designates improved cylinder choke (IC).

**$ designates skeet (SK).

*** designates cylinder bore (CYL).

INV. designates barrel is threaded for Browning Invector choke tube system.

INV. PLUS designates back-bored barrels

Browning Fixed chokes are much tighter than their Invector Plus choke tubes because they use a different system to rate them. On the Fixed chokes: one asterisk is Full; One asterisk and a minus sign is Improved Modified and two asterisks is Modified. I had a BT-99 2 barrel set and the barrel with one asterisk measured .040 constriction and the barrel with 2 asterisks measured .028 constriction. My Browning Citori with Invector Choke tubes Full measured .030 and Improved Modified measured .022 and Modified measured .015.
