Has a left handed shooter ever won a Grand American Championship? If so who and what year.

Just a couple of questions.

What possible difference could it make whether you are left handed or right handed as far as winning is concerned?

Please define left handed shooter as I have never been sure just what it means. So what does left handed shooter mean?

"Sad news...Our friend Ivanhoe has evidently gone round the bend and cannot tell left from right."

Very clever Kenny unfortunately I didn't see you explain the difference either could it be that I am not the only one gone round the bend?????

It would seem to me that in order to criticize me you would first need to be able to explain the difference yourself!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW I have always been round the bend. What is your excuse??????

I can't wait for Bobby Lawyer to "copy and paste me!" I will finally have made the big time! I suspect Bobby Poo, that the question was asked out of curiosity or trivia! In addition, if you do not know what a right handed shooter is, right handed hitter, right handed golfer etc, I agree with the other above, "You have gone over the edge" or one ingnorant person! In fact, if you do not know, I certainly would be unable to educate you! Tom Rhoads

tcr1146 well Tommy Poo just what I would expect from you more lack of knowledge of what the question is asking.

BTW Tommy Poo where did I say I didn't know. I said I wasn't sure of what the term means(Left Handed)I know what it means to be left handed or right handed.
If I wanted to be educated as you put it you would be one of the last people I would ask to do it for me.

Oh and Tommy Poo can you explain to me why everyone is having so much trouble explaining the term Left Handed Shooter. In their own words not the stereotyped definition. I am being attacked for ASKING A GD QUESTION. If it is such an easy thing to define why am I being attacked for asking it???????????

blizzard so tell me is this how you decide how to tell if someone is left handed or right handed?

Do you just take a small child and put a compass in their hand to determine which side of their brain is dominate?

Truly amazing, but of course you can't fix it so what the he!!

at the expense of sounding really stupid....doesn't a right handed shooter actuate the firing mechanism of the firearm with his right hand??

Bob, you did not ask how to determine if someone was left or right handed, but rather how to define a left handed shooter. A left handed shooter is someone who has the stock of the gun against their left shoulder, right hand on the forearm, and left hand on the grip, the left had also pulls the trigger.

Whether or not the person is right or left handed in other activities is irrelevant. If they hold the gun on the left side of the body then they, by definition shoot left handed. And I know at least one person who can shoot from both sides and has different guns set up for each side, he would be an ambidextrous shooter.

Determining right or left handedness is a completely different topic. And has no bearing that I can see on the original post.

Well Janet is pretty close to the method. Your DNA decides(if you become left or right handed)unless someone forces the issue other wise. The authority figure forces the youngster to use his right hand even if his brain tells him it feels better in his left hand.

This practice is not very common any longer as parents of today don't see any problem with have an offspring that is left handed. When I and many of you were young our parents didn't want left handed children. I was very fortunate my Dad didn't care what hand I was.

If you went to catholic schools the "good sisters" used a rule on your knuckles if they caught you writing with your left hand. This of course doesn't make you right handed.

"you did not ask how to determine if someone was left or right handed, but rather how to define a left handed shooter."

What I said was. Please define left handed shooter as I have never been sure just what it means. Not what it means to be left handed as I already know what that means.

Mr Howard you are correct and I realized that quite a bit after I said it. It does however still apply. As you said a left handed shooter is someone that puts his stock against his left shoulder. That in itself doesn't make the shooter left handed it just means he shoots from the left side.

I am left handed I was born left handed I will die left handed. Yet I do not mount my gun on my left shoulder. I mount my gun on my right shoulder.

I brought this up because the question that Dusted1 asked is IMO a slap in the face to those that shoot from the left shoulder. He seemingly assumes that that shooter who shoot from the left shoulder have less ability than those that shoot from the right shoulder. Nothing could be further from the truth there are many, many accomplished shooter who shoot from the left.

That is what prompted me to ask the questions in the first place. I know that their are those that believe I am just trying to start trouble. I don't care what they believe I just get a very bad feeling when someone singles out certain shooters for no other reason than their own personal hang-ups. That make them the one that are damaged not those that except the hand that life dealt them.

"one thing I know for certain is how to determine if someone is a total ASS."

Well blizz there is a reason you know how to determine this fact. Its because when you say that it just like you are looking in the mirror. It is good that you have finally learned to recognized yourself from a description when you read it.

What the he!! at least what I have put out took a little thought unlike the definition you gave us.

"Put a compass in your hand, either one, and hold it in front of your face. Find north. Place the gun in the pocket of your "west" shoulder. Place your "west" finger on the trigger. There. Congrats lefty."

WOW blizzard you are a really deep thinker when you want to be aren't you....LOL..LOL

BTW if there is anyone behind you that cares what you think. That will mean two of you. There isn't anyone here that cares....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....

Seems someone has a left-handed complex to me. Everyone knows southpaws are ugly, stupid and have bad breath.

I saw no inference in the origional post that leftys had less skill. It is a matter of fact that they are in the minority, hence any reasonable individual would expect there to be fewer lefty GAH winners.

The longshot was lookin for attention. Boredom and loneliness often results in acting out for attention. Don't be too hard on him, he can't help it.

Guy he was looking for a Grand American champion period. Now even though what you say about left handed shooters being a minority is true. It in my opinion is safe to assume that after over 100 years of Grand American competition it would be safe to assume that somewhere in that 100 years that a lefty would sneak into the winners circle. Don't you think or don't you feel that it is a safe assumption? Has it ever entered your head to ask a question like that.

You also made a statement about a left handed complex. First things first Guy I don't know who you are referring to on your comment about a left handed complex. I can assure you it isn't me as being left handed is a fact of life something that can't be changed. Even if you teach yourself to write with your right hand or throw an object with your right hand or teach yourself shoot from your right shoulder. You will never be right handed you can not change what is natural. You can learn to modify behavior but you can't change what you come by naturally.

The only reason I never shot left handed is I am right eye dominate and trying to use a gun was just as awkward in the beginning right or left so why not eliminate the problem of dealing with eye dominance right a way.

As far as the description of lefties is concerned you are not entirely correct on that. I am everything you say except stupid I am dumb not stupid.
