Ammunition Costs and Coop buying

I have heard that there are co-ops (individuals working together to buy ammo in large/pallet quantities) that have been able to buy shotgun ammo at significantly reduced prices. If this is still true, does anyone know of a co-op in the South Atlanta GA region I can join? If it is not true, are there any better places to purchase than at Wal-Mart and Dicks (when rebates are in effect)

I would guess that it would be in your best interest to shop around at a few of the wholesalers and get some prices together on quanitys, then approach people and let them know what kind of deals you can get ... Most people want to buy at reduced rates but do not want to put forth the efforts to gather the information and prices because it takes time and patients ... There are several who post on TS.Com so finding one should not be a problem ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Find out where your club or a club in the area is getting targets from. Once they are sending the truck, ammo and components are just an add on.

I'm not famular with the distributors in the Atlanta area, but if nothing else find out who supplied shells for your state shoot. Now is a good time for a bulk buy as some distributors don't like to hold target shell inventory over the winter.

We buy a tractor trailer load of shells twice a year or so at our club from our supplier, minimum order is 50 flats per person to keep the organization manageable. We save between $3 to $8 per flat depending on the brand and availability (promo shells tend to have the largest discounts in bulk, not so much on STS or AA). Most guys bought between 50 flats to a full pallet the last time we ordered.

I know its a bit far from you but if anyone else is interested in bulk purchasing, CAC Associates in PA is who we have been dealing with. They are about 4 hr drive from us here in NJ and the shipping is almost nothing as long as there is a good $$$$$ load coming your way . Ours has always been about $13,000 . Last trip would have been more if they had everything in stock ?? Most powders , some wads and primers were out of stock but we added 2 pallets of targets .

soundaround- If you shoot at the Cherokee club neat Atlanta, you will find an individual who occasionally does buy a large quantity of shells and divides the order among some local shooters. But, keep in mind a pallet is not a large order. Fifteen pallets is a nice order.
