Joe- Do you really clean your gun after every time you shoot? How long does it take you to shoot a round of 25 including the 25 times you clean your gun?

I almost always clean my gun when I get home after a shoot. Many shoots are one day events but others last several days.

I clean the barrel after each day of shooting on all of mine, perazzi, guerini, remingtons and benelli's. My dad was the type who cleaned his in and out even if it was shot one shell. I only break it down all the way (1100 and benelli's) when i see an accumlation. Bob...........

I used to clean my gun after every days shooting but this past year have not been so on the ball. Usually about once a month now unless it was raining when I was shooting, in which case it gets cleaned right after the event. I shoot a super x now. I also know guys that will clean their guns once a year if they need to or not lol. You know who you are. John

My guns are my pride and joy, not to mention an absession. I love taking them apart after every day of shooting. To me a day of shooting trap or hunting is not finished before the gun is cleaned from top to bottom. I have was schooled by my father to always clean the gun after each use.

I shoot a Ljutic X73 and a Browning Superposed ST-100 and clean them after each day's events before I put them away in my Browning/Pelican Travel Vault. I swab the bbl's before and after I use them and shoot a shot of Browning Oil down the barrels and a light misting on the exteriors of each before I put them away. Then before shooting them, I wipe them down, swab the bbl's, lube the hinge pins with STOS. Been following this routine for 30 years....no rust..no pitting.

Your supposed to clean them???

Actually, come to think of it, Every time I pull the trigger, I clean the barrel (with a brand new Federal Wad).

My K-80 does see a bit of cleaning about once a year just before the Grand Pacific. It really doesnt get that dirty, must be those Federal Papers!!!

I'm with Ikey, almost the same amount of time gunsmithing and I have come up with the same answer. With my 1100 Competition I do use a chamber brush on it every time I shoot it. Remington did not do a very good job of polishing the chamber I feel. Anyway, you can not over clean them. Just my .02.

Phil,
I clean immediately after each shoot. White vinegar down the barrel until clean, wheel bearing grease on the hinge ( I bought a pounds in '65 it goes a long way) oil with any leftover oil I have laying around. Metal wire brush any mold or fuzz on the last inch of the barrel. At the end of the trap league I apply a heavy coat of break free.

Firearm a NEF hammered single shot. I am not kidding about the cleaning method, although it IS a little different than the others on this thresd
