Pirates on this Site...I

A few days ago I posted a thread about the inability to find 45 cal ammunition. There was a poster that stated that he had some and was willing to sell it. I was at work yesterday and did not see the post until last evening. I talked with the gentleman just a few minutes ago and he said that when he posted that to me, he was inundated with PM's about the ammo. He's sold all that he had less 5 boxes.

To be honest, I know that the 1st guy with money in his hand takes whatever is being sold. But that does not stop me from feeling a little disappointed. I guess that I was relying on the "gentlemans" aspect, which is typical of this site. If I was the one posting the need 1st, I should have had the right of 1st recision.

Your Thoughts ??

Insure guy, you surprise me. I would think anyone in your business would understand the pragmatism of gun guys. And too, I stay close to my offers.

The way things are going with ammo, I surprised it took that long to dump it. There is no ammo to be had around here in MI. If you buy range ammo, they want you to shoot it there. I have become good friends with the sporting goods manager of the local Wally World and he says they get a few boxes at a time now. They used to get cases of all calibers, now just a few boxes trickle in at a time. Sorry you did not get what you wanted and yes there USUALLY is a gentleman's aspect to this site, however, as stated above, it's seems every man for themselves. Unfortunately.

smartweed or smartass, I am not sure what you are getting at. I am simply making a light hearted stab at some members of this site. I have not found a better site to buy, sell or trade items. This was a bit of a suprise to me and I am slightly dissapointed that I could have fulfilled a need and someone scooped me. But, that's life.

Now, off to find out what the word "pragmatic" means.

Insure guy. If you think your deal was hijacked, wait till you have to use strictly email so you get time stamps. Too, I wiould say that your answer lies in that you did not ask fo rguys to email you with an offer to sell. Then the guy would likely have gotten to youfirst. As I quickly breezed thru your thread, it did seem to be a comment rather than a request to buy. Regardlss, keep your threads in theright category. Your first one should hav ebeen here in WTB adn this one sould have been in Shooting related. (Oh, I'm so confused)

I think I'll go to the club.

Hey ma... Hey MA??? You seen my boxes of 45 ammo? WHAT? YOu didn't?!!!!!!!

Smartweed, you must be a troll. It seams to me that you are doing your level best to irritate the piss out of me. But hey, if Brenda is truly your name I know that it's some thing innate to your nature. This site is full of guys who share a tremendous amount of respect and good natured ribbing towards one another. When there is an issue that shooters take exception to you can most generally find those who come down on one side or the other. But, every now and then you have someone like yourself seem to want to really stir the pot. "Insecureguy" that's funny. Did you think that would upset me ?? No, that's pretty clever.

I just wanted to put it out there that the guy who sold the ammo, called me today and he will try to get a few more cases and maybe we can put the issue to rest. I am sure that Smartweed is ready to move onto the next topic.

Jason,

I agree with you on this one.

Another poster was looking for 9mm brass to reload - the poster was shocked when he couldn't find primers.

I (foolishly) offered to sell him what he needed (I'm thinking about 2K) - well they came out of the woodwork - could have sold 100K in half an hour.

My offer remains open to the original poster, but the vultures are out there waiting to swoop in.

Normally the answer would be to reload to fill your ammo needs. However, now it is as hard to find components as it is the ammo. I was at a gun show this past weekend & could not believe the increases in prices over the same gun show 6 weeks ago. One fellow had 1,000 Large rifle primers for $100.00 per thousand. That is totally ridiculous. Everything was insane & it will probably get worse. Colonel
