bought a flock of this stuff diuring our club's "component buy".

enough for 10,000 rounds this year. But can find littel data for mixing these two items. Seems likely that the pressures will be too high for 1-1/8 1200 FPS hcp loads.

Strictly using STS hulls, Fig 8 wads. Looking for some honest advice. My first experience with Titewad was very good. But that was 16.4 Titewad, Fed 209, and 1-1/16 oz shot. Snappy, but felt fine.

YOu guys are much better at this relaoding stuff than me. Whadda ya think? It may be too late fo rme to change my "buy" but I can go for some different stuff. I loaded PB all last year. Trying to be a bit frugal as I intend on doubling my shooting this year with gas being down and all.

If you want to save on powder go with Promo. It uses the recipes as Red Dot at under $75/jug. You must have a scale as Promo varies from lot to lot; but I doubt you are one of those guys who relies solely on bushing charts.

I stopped loading Chedittes due to primers puncturing in one of my guns. I used the same load data as Winchesters - but I also do not load near max.

For the small savings (less than $25/5000), I decided to only buy Winny's.

Jack,

I've found that Titewad is very user friendy for 7/8 and 1 oz loads. It feels a little "punchy" for me when used for 1 1/8 oz loads. Clays is a better 3dr Hodgdon powder.

I use Titewad for all of my 7/8 oz loads and most of my 1 oz loads. For mt faster 1 oz loads and all of my 1 1/8 oz loads I use Titegroup. I can load all three different loads with just a TGT-12 wad in my Remington hulls.

Green Dot would have been a better choice for 1200 fps with 1 1/8 oz. Titewad is a bit too fast and Clays is on the edge as well, developing pressures at the high end. Promo/Red Dot would do, but the pressures will be a tad towards the higher end of the spectrum, but with careful selection of other components, can be kept reasonable. Around 20.0 grains of Green Dot in the STS hulls with the Fig 8 wad, 1 1/8 oz of shot, with either the Cheddite or Winchester Primer will get you a good 3 Dram (1200 fps) load with reasonable pressures. Universal or International Clays could also be a decent choice. Check the Hodgdon site for their data with those powders.

Check out the website.

With the components you have, STS hull, Cheddite primer, Fig 8 wad, and 1 1/8 oz shot, Titewad cannot be used to generate 1200 fps in any listed load.

If you need the 1200 fps load with the powder, wad and primer you have, the Fed Gold medal hull can be used.

Titewad is an outstanding powder. It does have limits. One should be able to sell STS hulls and get Fed Gold Medals.
