I have 1000 CCI 209 primers that I would like to use. My current recipe calls for 20.5 grains of International Clays, 7/8 oz. shot, WIN AA12SL Wad, AA Hull, Win 209 primer. IF all things remain constant, does any one recommend that I not use the CCI 209 primers in place of the Win 209's?
Thanks for your input.
Jeff
When in doubt, check with the powder or component manufacturers. Hodgdon has a LOT of data online, but not for the CCI 209 standard primer with those components. Similar loads are reasonable enough, pressure wise, so it would probably be a safe enough load. Some other wads/primers may increase pressure a significant amount, if you were to look at the tables. If you'd like to play it safe, call Hodgdon, or send a few loaded shells out to have them pressure tested.
