Obama Campaign Threaten Legal Action Over NRA Ads

Thursday, September 25, 2008

Fairfax, VA-Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign has sent threatening letters to news agencies in Pennsylvania and Ohio to stop airing ads exposing his anti-gun record sponsored by the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF).

The kicker? NRA-PVF's Ohio’s ads have not yet begun running.

“Barack Obama and his campaign are terrified of the truth,” declared Chris W. Cox, Chairman of NRA-PVF. “Sen. Obama's statements and support for restricting access to firearms, raising taxes on guns and ammunition and voting against the use of firearms for self-defense in the home are a matter of public record. NRA-PVF will make sure that everyone knows of Obama's abysmal record on guns and hunting.”

The Obama campaign sent cease and desist letters to news outlets in Pennsylvania and Ohio, denouncing the ads and demanding their removal from the airwaves. All stations where NRA-PVF has purchased or plans to purchase ads have been provided with documented evidence of Sen. Obama's anti-gun record.

NRA-PVF Response to Washington Post “fact check”

“Barack Obama would be the most anti-gun president in our nation's history. That's the truth,” concluded Cox. “NRA-PVF has the facts on our side. No amount of running from or lying about his record and then intimidating news outlets in the hope of deceiving American gun owners and hunters is going to work. Those strong arm tactics may work in Chicago, but not in Pennsylvania and Ohio, and not as long as NRA-PVF has anything to say about it.”

Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America’s oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. Four million members strong, NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation's leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services.

Very interesting it would seem if the report is true(so many come on here and don't turn out to be true)not only is he afraid of what he has said. He has no respect for the first amendment either.

He is doing well not even elected and he is trashing the First and Second Amendments. I wonder how this affect his approval rating not good I would think. He is not in office yet.

Well he said he wanted to change things, but he should at least wait until he get elected.

I "yearn" for the moment in a debate where the candidates are allowed to address each other directly, and John McCain says, "Mr. Obama, have you ever fired a gun, and if so, what is your favorite type of gun to shoot?" Then I sit there in my chair, and try to count the number of "Uh - um's."

Never happen - but I can dream, can't I?

As you can see, there is no First Amendment without the Second Amendment. That is why totalitarian governments always want to get rid of the guns.

You guys who think Obama is not a threat to your guns, how about this?

jcl, Obama`DOES have the backing of Sorros And his`criminal pals in Chicago. Also the Daley machine and the enire liberal rats nest. He cannot WIN a law suit against the NRA and he KNOWS it. This is simply political manuevering to try and make he appear a "victim".The liberal losers on the left LOVE that! He also is using threating SCARE tactis to try and scare the networks into keeping the TRUTH from the american people. The guy is a piece of garage!

That's pretty much the same problem we have here in California, Southern California and the Bay Area are very Liberal and very populated. The rest of the state is more rural and more conservative, but there enough voters in those two relatively small areas comparatively to out vote the conservatives in the state.

Obama does not have to worry about winning PA or OH his campaign has enough money to buy all the votes he needs in Philly Pittsburgh, Dayton, Columbus, Harrisburg, and Cleavland to win no problem. Just like the Kerry and Edwards ticket.

I heard votes sold for about $100.00 in 2004.
