I checked rear shim in the stock of my sons Beretta 3901 RL Target & found reads on to 50 SX. He shoots right handed. If I am correct the SX is the cast adjustmet for a Left haned shooter. Should I change out the shims, also this gun came with an adjustable comb on it.
Yes, it's set up for a lefty. Flip the shim and stock washer around so you see "DX" and it will be set up for a right hander. That shim can be used for max drop/min drop. It is also a 65 shim if you flip it end over end (for max drop).
There is a lot more to obtaining the correct fit than just considering whether a person shoots right handed or left handed. Shoulder width, chest size, face width, eye spacing, arm length, neck length, and a whole bunch of other things.
I'm right handed but I like my 390 Beretta set up with the C-60-SX setting for cast and drop. Some would say this is for left handers, but it fits me pretty darn well.
Also, since your son's gun has an adjustable comb, this gives even more adjustability. Have him try it several different ways. He may find that the SX setting fits him better...... or maybe not. The only way to find out is to try it and see.
