I saw in today's paper that Bob Overturf died yesterday. He was an avid trapshooter and former owner of Sherman Trap Club east of Sherman, TX which closed down a number of years ago due to "progress". I don't know how well known he was in trap circles because I am not really a trap shooter, although I have tried it several times over the last 30 years.
I do know he shot at least tens of thousands of registered targets each year for at least a while. He gave me some pointers when he owned Sherman Trap Club years ago and was very tolerant of someone like myself who was totally ignorant about trap. Two or three years ago he came down to a little local range near Howe, TX (which has also closed)and was very modest and polite. He shot a round of skeet with me and apologized for missing a few because he had severe back pain. I did not know him well at all, but I can say when I was with him he was a perfect gentleman and very modest and helpful.
