WARNING: This OFF-TOPIC political thread is only intended for those who think this Presidential election actually matters. If you think it no longer matters who we elect, and we're screwed either way, believe me I feel your pain...but just tune out for a couple seconds.

Okay, now....HOOSIERS, cross over in the May 6 primary and VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA!

All right, I know you think I'm crazy...just hear me out before calling the funny wagon.

I've been saying all along, "Hillary will be President - America will survive." But you know? As many times as I've tried to make myself believe it, via repetition - dammit, I have to admit - I just don't even believe it myself anymore.

I'm not crazy about John McCain or anybody else in this race...but McCain's the best remaining choice of the three, AND BARACK OBAMA IS THE ONLY CANDIDATE HE CAN BEAT. After listening to all this stuff about radical preachers and "bitter small-town clingers," I have come to the conclusion that the Democrat party is again attempting to commit suicide with an out-of-touch elitist candidate in Obama, John Kerry and Mike Dukakis style...and all we have to do is simply LET THEM.

Now I know what you're going to say. "Rush Limbaugh says vote for Hillary" you say. "Operation Chaos," you think. Well, I have a news flash...

RUSH LIMBAUGH WANTS JOHN MCCAIN TO LOSE TO HILLARY. Now, I know this is hard for some of you to accept. He ISN'T going to tell you this. But the fact is, if McCain becomes President, Limbaugh's influence level within the Republican party plummets. McCain has never sought Rush's support, and if he wins, he will be the only GOP candidate in the modern era to have won the White House without doing so. Now what will that say about Rush Limbaugh and his importance to the party? NOW - if Hillary becomes Prez, Rush Limbaugh takes on the shining mantle of "Unofficial Opposition Leader." He will spend the next 8 years telling us McCain lost because he's not conservative enough. A John McCain Presidency will relegate Rush Limbaugh to irrelevance in the Republican party - a Hillary Presidency will elevate him to the head of it. THAT IS WHY RUSH LIMBAUGH WANTS YOU TO VOTE FOR HILLARY. SHE WILL TROUNCE MCCAIN, AND A MCCAIN PRESIDENCY IS WHAT RUSH LIMBAUGH MUST AVOID AT ALL COSTS - to maintain his own sense of importance. He can survive 8 years of the Clintons - he's done it before, and been very successful at it - but he cannot survive McCain in the White House. It would be a monument to his unimportance in the party. He made a career out of railing against the Clintons - but a moderate Republican in the White House relegates him to irrelevance.

"Operation Chaos" was never about the desire to elect a Republican. It's about Rush Limbaugh's personal grudge against the "Drive-By Media," and his need to show that he's more important than them - even if it means you and me surviving 8 years of the Clintons - again.

So Hoosiers within range of my keyboard...hold your nose, down a couple shots, and go pull the lever for Obama. This guy is a lightweight. He's thin on substance, he's untested, he scares the daylights out of older white Americans, he's tied to stoopid radical black preachers, he's elitist...and, his middle name is Hussein.

...Just the kind of candidate McCain can man-handle in November. If you want to elect a Republican - as opposed to just stroking Rush Limbaugh's ego - then this is the right play to make.

I think you are totally wrong about Rush. He will take his Republican conservatism and beat McCain over the head everyday with it. He is not a McCain fan and will remind him every time he screws up. He will be his conservative consience. I think he is looking forward to it. Vote how you want but you misjudged Rush.

I think from a business standpoint Rush would have a lot more fun with McCain than the Witch. However, get ready for it because McCain can beat either of them though Hillary will at least carry most of the solid blue states. Obama will make Kerry look like a good idea.

#5 ·
Don,

You may possibly be right about Rush...after all, he did used to say, "You can't win by losing."

However...if he "overplays" his hand - and Shrillary gets the nomination - McCain is TOAST.

McCain cannot beat Hillary. Lots of people are chomping at the bit to vote a 3rd term for the Clintons.

buzz have you seen in the last few weeks of all the big names going for obama here in West Virginia which is 70% democrap all but Byrd has indorced him Byrd was a KKK in the 60s so i dont see him changing but i think you are mostly right even though WV is 70% i see McCain winning here because we are 90+ % pro gun rick

All the polls I see, show Obama beating McCain handily..Once a democratic candidate is chosen, it will become McCain's turn in the barrel and he will not survive..That's just the way it is..Mizzou...A poll last night showed Obama wining over McCain 48 to 42..

Rush's "Operation Chaos" is not about whether Clinton or Obama get the Democrat nomination. It's about keeping the Dems competition alive until after the various states' primaries are over. Keeping the race alive, will help guarantee chaos in Denver. There could be a split among Dems, not recoverable in less than three months. There are already organizations out there promising a 1968-Chicago-type convention atmosphere.

It's also not about him being more powerful than the "drive-by's". He is the single, most powerfully focused conservative voice. His popularity doesn't depend on whether a Dem or Republican is the President. He regularly skewered G.H.W. Bush from 1989-1993; most notably on Bush's reneging on his "no new taxes" campaign pledge.

McCain is a RINO, pure and simple. He will be the most palatable of the three, if he becomes President. However, he will have a very difficult time in gaining any true conservative support in November. Conservatives may be content to let the "Straight Talk Express" run off the rails, then take control of the Republican Party after 2008. McCain is sometimes "conservative", but not "a conservative". Make no mistake about this.

The most important elections coming up will be those in Congress. If the Dems add significantly to their current majorities, the Senate may beome filibuster-proof. There are already enough liberal Republicans including Snowe of Maine, and others, who will side with the Dems. Dems could also get a veto-proof majority in the House.

There's the real possibility that Ginsberg and Stevens could retire upon the election of a new President. There is little possibility that a conservative justices would be nominated, despite McCains statements. He compromises first, before trying to persuade his opponents.

Just one more view.

Best,
Dennis

Polls are now showing Hillary drawing in on a double-digit lead over McCain, while Obama's lead is a paper-thin 2 points or so.

For those of you who think I'm mis-reading Rush's intentions, answer me this:

If Obama is really the deeply flawed candidate Rush points out that he is (and I don't disagree...)...

...then why not back off, let him get the nomination, and get man-handled by McCain?

From Rasmussen,,,"The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows Barack Obama attracing 46% of the vote while John McCain earns 44%. In a match-up with Hillary Clinton, it’s Clinton 46% McCain 45%."

There is no way possible that mrs slick, with a consistent, almost two year long unfavorable rating of 51% or above is ahead of McCain by double digits. At least not by any reputable pollster.

I agree with PD, Rush doesn't rely on any Democrat, or Republican for his popularity. What you are seeing, is what you get with Rush, he is an open pot stir. His idea is to keep the pot boiling, no matter if it be Hillary, or Obama stewing on the bottom.

Voting for Obama is the wrong way to do that, pure and simple. Rush won't back off because it gives the Democrats smooth sailing to the convention and the White House. WE will have a Democrat for the next four years, at least. No matter what happens at the Convention, they will pull it together and run a winning campaign, in spite of themselves. Rush just isn't that important to the larger majority of the voting public.

I watched the Rose Garden News Conference today and lamented that if Bush had been that direct & personable in the previous 6 years we might not be in the crappy situation we are now. (everyone needs a dream)

Painfully,
Kip

There's also a few polls that show upwards of 20% of the votes for either Dem candidate will swing Juan's way, if either of them is nominated. Jughead Hussein's people can't stand Clinton, and vis-versa.

I don't feel McCain has a chance against Hussein. He keeps brow-beating his own party leaders on comments made about Hussein's past record.

And besides all that, I can't stand looking and listening to the phony bastard. His nomination for judges will be as liberal as anything the other two would nominate.

The Clinton NAME already has 47 million voters who will pull the lever for it, based on past election results (Bill was President twice, remember?)

Those people will simply see Hillary as another chance to vote Bill a 3rd term (and a lot of those people feel times weren't too bad during the 90s, don't forget...)

At my workplace, the women are all smooshy-underwear JAZZED about the prospect of voting for Hillary. I hear about it EVERY DAY. There are probably plenty more who just aren't talking openly about it yet, because they don't want to take guff about it from the men around them.

My thoughts on this is, We need to vote for Hillary and hope she can take the convention. Being the DNC nominee will cause a big upset in the party. Alot of the black vote WILL NOT vote for her in November. Also those crazied eye college students that are backing Obama will also be upset with the system and will not vote. With this happening McCain should walk in to the White House without any trouble.

#17 ·
Black people and college students don't decide elections in this country. White working stiffs do. And Hillary has 'em in spades.

Make sure you all tune in to Rush for the next 8 years, as he rails against President Hillary. His advertisers are counting on you.

There's a lot of people here, ain't goin' to know what hit them in November.

It may be better to go "toe-to-toe" with the enemy (Clinton), than to have a back-stabber(McCain), swaying left and right, never knowing which way he'll go until the wind blows.

Voting for Hussein and having him as POTUS will not EVER satisfy the black population. It's a shame that his campaign has turned to playing the race card. I will not vote for him for his far left liberal views, not because he is black, but now with Sharpton and Wright pulling and pushing him around escalating the race issue, this will be Hussein's demise.

With regards to McCain and judges, McCain will want the satisfaction of getting his nominees confirmed(to massage his ego), and to accomplish this, without much effort, those judges need to give a warm and fuzzy feeling to the likes of Schumer, Boxer, Reid, and the rest of that ilk.

Just yesterday, Rush conceded 2 important (and revealing) points:

A. Obama is damaged and can't win in November. (Therefore, that's who we should be supporting for now).

B. Black voters will NOT abandon the Democrat party if the SuperDelegates abandon Obama (therefore, party unrest at the convention isn't his real motive).

So, right there, he has completely revealed his true motives in supporting Hillary. It has nothing to do with electing the Republican. He knows there will NOT be a lasting, bitter division in the party if Obama gets the shaft...there will be some temporary disappointment, but the Democrats will pull together and support Hillary, even the black vote, and Rush knows it. "Convention Chaos" is not his true motive, because The Mouth himself admits that he knows blacks will return to the party and vote for Shrillary.

Operation Chaos is about Rush nursing his grude against the "Drive Bys"...even if it means 8 years of Hillary. As I said before...a Hillary victory in November elevates Rush's importance...a McCain victory diminishes it.

Get out there and vote for Obama! The Democrat party is attempting to commit suicide...we just have to hand them the pills.

#23 ·
Nice try guys, but Obama won't win the nomination if you don't vote for him. The Republicans will win against Hillery come November. McCain may not be the best but, sure is better than the other two. Also the blacks will not support Hillary in November if she pull off the nomination, which I feel she will do.

Its just who is the biggest liar. McCain doesn't fit the program as the biggest liar. He just seems like if he don't get his way he will through a fit and bang the floor with his fist while kicking his feet till he gets his way. As far as the Dem's go it seems like Hillbilly Hillary is the biggest liar so far. Now that is what most of the people want. They showed it When slick willey was is the first four years. He pointed his finger right at the camera to the American people and told the he was the biggest lying Son-of-B&%$ their is and look what happened He won hands down. Obama is trying hard to be a liar but he has not enough experience yet. He is getting his feet we though. He prejudic lady is what is going to hurt him with the Help of the Rev. Wright.

"McCain doesn't fit the program as the biggest liar. He just seems like if he don't get his way he will through a fit and bang the floor with his fist while kicking his feet till he gets his way."

And all that kicking and screaming that McCain will be doing, will be against his own party, because they will not want to swing to the "liberal way". He's already started with different Repubican Party leaders.
