I know someone was telling me about a better way of getting to San Antonio than going down thru Austin from KC last year when we were in San Antonio.......I think it might have been Steve Scheib. I believe it cut up to Ft Worth, but not sure of that.........

if Steve sees this, please email me. or if anyone else knows the 'cut thru' that would be great.

email please delete the x's......... xxxtrapmom92@yahoo.comxxx

thanks.

Lorna, from where you are take I-35 to Ft.Worth. At the north edge of Ft. Worth, take Loop 820 West to I-30. Take I-30 west and soon it will merge with I-20. Continue on I-20 and take the Hiway 281 exit and head south to San Antonio. It will intersect Loop 1604 about 18 miles from the shooting complex. Good road and a beautiful drive....and it avoids all the traffic in Ft. Worth, Waco and all of the Austin mess.

Lorna look at your map and come down U S 281. depending on where your coming from in KS you could come down I44 thru Wichita Falls, tx and out 281 from there or if comming down I 35 make cut over to 281 just south of Ft Worth toward Hico. on 35 turn west at Venus on US 67 and then when you come to hwy 220 head south west to Hico. theres a little bit of construction at Hico going south just for a few miles. I haul my 5th wheel thru there bout 4 or 5 times a year. pretty good road all way to S A. When U get to S A take the Andersoon Loop and follow around to N S C

Lorna, I think you all live in Kansas City. Just south of Fort Worth, you can take 174 to Cleburne and pick up 67 to 220 which takes you into Hico. If you miss 174, just stay on 35 south to 67 and go west to Cleburne. The reason you pick up 220 is it's a shortcut to Hico. There you pick up 281 all the way to San Antonio. This brings you to the loop 1604 on the north end and you just go west to Culebra, which takes you to the club. If you need directions from Garden City or Liberal, just let me know. Steve

Thanks so much!! everyone! I will check these out...I actually took the I-30 I-20 route to the Spring grand due to the weather that was up on 44. That was great and really fast....lol the speed limit was 80 on I-20 for a while over to New Mexico! ....I just know I don't want to go thru Austin at all! LOL.......and the traffic from Austin over to San Antonio is bad period. I like the idea of coming in differently. We are staying just off of 1604, so that should work.)

I have been told that some of 281 is 4 lane........but I have not looked yet.

Steve, are you shooting down there this year?? usually we see you there, and at Kansas.....

Come down 281. Texas traffic law allows you pull over to the shoulder and allow someone to pass you. In many places the shoulder is a full lane wide.
Just give a friendly wave and press on. Some of 281 is 70 mph speed limit.

I 35 is often crowded and sometimes they have wrecks that will back up for a few miles. I avoid I 35 if I am going up to Dallas or Fort Worth.

Geo Wentz - Bulverde Texas - on 281 about 10 miles North of 1604.

If you need local/San Antonio info send me an e-mail or call.
