I bought a new citori XS high rib, I get to pick it up tommrow, but of course its gonna be colder than the testie's on a brass monkey. Might have to give it a whirl anyway.
It's "tomorrow", not "tommrow", and testes don't have an "i" or an apostrophe.
Seriously Kelly, enjoy your gun. I'm going to shoot my new (for me) Alfermann in our first registered shoot of the year tomorrow too. I think I can imagine your anticipation.
A monkey was a pair of brass rails mounted on a ship, used to store cannon balls so they could be quickly loaded. If it got too cold, the brass rails would shrink and the balls would fall off between them.
I should note that while this is the most popular explanation for the saying's origen, not all agree that it is factual.
