Has anyone seen the new H & R trap gun? I understand MSRP is just over $400.00.
Any info available on this gun?

I may have to buy one as a loaner for new shooters. With one ounce loads, it should break targets and be FUN to shoot. Also, no issues of loading more than one bullet in the gun!

They MUST be decocked before they can be unbreeched. If you are working with a new shooter, you will be standing right beside them until they demonstrate ability to safely handle a firearm. Right?

This may be the ULTIMATE loaner. I wonder about exposed hammer issues for SCTP competition.

Reliable and dependable! Probably.

But beware.

I bet they'll be VERY light (read, harsh recoil) and whippy, and their triggers will be heavy and feel like a Daisy Red Rider.

The exposed hammers are likely to be very difficult for young kids with weak thumbs.

If you use one of these for a loaner, I'd go with 7/8 ounce loads.

Just wonder how this gun will be any better than the Remington Russian single-shot sporting gun everyone (including myself) though might be a good cheap loaner gun, but never worked out.

This one is a fancy single shot with a short thick walled barrel, removable chokes but has little weight, just like all H & R singles. Personally I would not want to shoot a 100 targets and get beat up due to lack of weight and short stock. As far as a youth gun for trap, it could even create a lot of bad habits and/or a severe flinch.

devilsadvocate .... Sorry for the bad post about the short barrel, the one I pulled off the shelf & examined must have been either the Classic or the Jr. instead of the Trap model. I’ll have to go back and ask for the Trap model to make sure, thanks again for the correction.

With some added weight and light loads, this is a winner for the kids! Wonder how long before we hear of one blowing a gasket? I'm guessing never according to what Bruce Bowen tried with his! I can't wait till a set of young eyes pound some hotshot in a shoot-off with one of these! :) Hap

I already shoot a shotgun that gives a lot of people the giggles, why not another?

Heck it will pair up nicely with an H&R Topper my 14yo is already trying to say is his!
