Bunker Trap--Who has shot Perfect 25 in a 1 Shot Final??????????

Hello,

I was just wondering if someone could give me an idea of how many people have shot a perfect 25 in a 1-shot bunker final?

Thank you for your input

lumper, Lumper, Lumper,

Yes I am part of the staff of Hill country Shooting Sports Center. Yes, I am a member of USA Shooting and have access to the results they post. Perhaps, I wasn't clear in what exactly I was looking for?
In Bunker trap a regular target can be shot at twice. In finals, only one shot is allowed. This rule was implemented just a few years ago. Therefore a perfect final is hard to find. USA Shooting does not routinely post the results of registered shoots, besides the ones they host.
So I am looking for those who have shot perfect one shot finals, either at a registered shoot or not. Also, shooters from beyond our great USofA.
That said, do you have information that applies to this topic? I await your response

Colobiggun,

I was there to witness that spectacular feat! His mom was so nervous for him. Richard is a great person & it was a thrill to see him shoot so well. I know Lance Bade did it last year, I think at Fall Selection Match? Any others that anyone know of. Especiially interested in any female shooters????

Thank you for your input

Deb:

To the best of my knowledge here are the ones that have done it:

The Russian Alexi (?) has done 2
Michael Diamond
Lance Bade
Max Jolif
Ryan Hadden

There have not been many since the new rule went into effect.

Tom

p.s. easy 100... Think you need to realize we are talking about Olympic Trap with 7/8 oz loads the level of difficulty is way above ATA

Hi Deb, It's possible New Zealander Graeme Ede did it at the last Commonwealth Games...I can't be sure though...more experienced 'surfers' could probably tell you in less than a minute. One of Micheal Diamond's perfect finals was on here a month or so ago...a link to the video of the whole final...loved watching it. Kind Regards-Graham.

Easy 100,
Congrats on your TX state title --what sport was that ATA? But I was asking about international trap finals. If you are near Kerrville, hope you will soon come try some international trap.

Tom,
Thanks for your input. I am wondering if I can look up Alexi? and Diamond's on ISSF site? Okay, I know about Bade and Valdez. When did Hadden & Joliff do it? I am also contemplating stealing from you again & paying for the perfect final in a competition. Do you do that for your monthly shoots or just your registered competitions?

K1W1,
I appreceiate your help. I will check again on ISSF site. Do you have a link for Commonwealth Games?

DB Bill,
You missed them all on first shot -- then hit it with 2nd barrels?? all of them?? I would like to have seen that, lol Thanks for your response.

Woops got Jollif and Valdez mixed up....

You can go to the ISSF website and see Diamonds 25 in last years final at Cyprus. I recall that Alexi (sp?) did the first perfect final in the 05 european championships. He has done another one somewhere.

Listen.... I will pay $100 to anyone at any shoot that I am attending if they shoot a perfect final. We looked into buying insurance for a much higher amount say $10,000 for a perfect round. Its available much like hole in one insurance. It would be a great sales factor if someone would put up $10k or similar for a 25 in the final at a specific shoot like the Nationals or Selection match. Understand that the insurance would only cost $500±. I don't have the time to run the deal down and set it up but maybe you and Jack do. Just think of it... $10k would bring out the SC and ATA shooters to give bunker a try. Maybe we might get some converts.

Tom,

That is a really intriguing concept. I'll share the info with Jack -- if he isn't already lurking?, lol!
When did Hadden shoot the 25?
We had our club shoot on January 13th & had 2 perfect finals. Tom Morgan was referring. We all were a little, make that a lot, surprised by not just 1 but 2 perfect scores in that final.
Do you feel that this a new trend as more & more people get used to the single shot final? Or just a lot of training paying off?

Deb ... in my opinion all training should be done single shot and when you begin to consistently break around 80% and then begin to work on taking 2nd barrel shots. Your not only practicing/training for when you do make it to a final but also training/practicing to hone your skills so you are not a shooter always dependent on your second shot.

I started bunker shooting an 1100 and set a goal. When I would begin to break 70% on a routine basis I would step up to an O/U and start again. Within the first week of having an O/U I shot in a shoot and shot like CRAP ... and dang I took allot of 2nd barrel shots, I felt kind of like how can I miss I have a 2nd shot so if I miss with the first one I have a 2nd chance.

Well not only did I have just a couple 100 rounds through a brand new and very unfamiliar gun I realized I had that dependency thinking of having a second shot. Beginning soon after that I went back to single shot training and my scores are getting back to where I consider that I will maybe start to work on 2nd shots as well ... but not quite yet.

I shot in a 2nd shoot later in the fall last year and once again began to notice that 2nd barrel dependency feeling creeping in after the first round or two on the first day and my crappy shooting showed it. After shooting for the day was done a few of us decided to shoot a couple of fun practice rounds. I jokingly said forget this 2nd shot bull and went back to 1 shell in the gun and ... I really wish I had shot that well earlier in the day.

Beginning the 2nd day of that shoot I went back to single shot shooting and my scores were still crap again but ... well ... single shot training is not just necessary for finals but should be done all the time until you can consistently shoot 80% plus each and every round.

BTW ... currently if anyone wants to buy my bunker gun I might be willing to sell it real cheap ... unless I shoot well this weekend then forget it, the deal is off.

Tom ... $500 is an awful lot to pay for the insurance on that idea while also trying to recoup that fee in registration fees.

If your looking to give it a try I would say ask that type of promotion company to offer a $1000 prize and see what the insurance on that would be for the event and then also open the event to anyone who shoots a perfect round on single shots only, go to the line with only 25 shells and only 2 back up shells.

This might give a better chance of getting some new people to try and if they think they are that great of a fantastic shot how many of them would think they could do it 2 or 3 times and walk away with 2 or 3 thousand for sure?

Bunker Trap--Who has shot Perfect 25 in a 1 Shot Final??????????

Tom,

I like your way of thinking --- who was/is your coaching influence? Cait has been practicing 2 or 3 rounds + a one shot final every times she trains.

Lumper,

your concept is interesting, you think offering a cash prize for any 25 in a competition or just the final?

870,
I am not sure, but if I have understood correctly the following have shot perfect finals in REGISTERED competitons in the USA:
Lance Bade, Richard Valdez
The following have shot perfect finals in competition in the USA(unknown if registered):
Ryan Hadden, Shane Slocumb?,
The following have shot perfect finals in UN-REGISTERED competition in the USA:
Matt Wallace, Caitlin Barney

I understand that Hadden did it at a Regional/Zone shoot at Quantico. I have heard a rumor that Slocumb did it but have no direct knowledge. Other than Hadden at Quantico I believe that all of the perfect 25's have been shot at Colorado Springs a place well know for high scores. In my 25+ years of Bunker Trap Competition I have only seen 6 or 7 100's. All but one were at Colorado Springs.
