Top Single 35#,

Did you contact Dennis after recieving your rib? Did you explain the problem to him and give him a chance to rectify the situation? I'll bet not on both!!!!

I had Dennis do a trigger for me a year or so ago that he had nothing but problems with. He lost so much money doing that trigger job, but made it good!!!

Dennis is a very honerable business man and you really shouldn't go around dragging good people through the dirt!

Dennis, Cindy, Tracy, are the best--IMHO- Dennis is the most gifted stock fitter in the country---his wood work is second to none---he has done several jobs for me & he guarantees satisfaction-his word is is his guarantee & he his a man to be trusted---the only problem with Dennis is that some of his competition feels that his new INFINITY is underpriced---it is the best deal on a premium single barrel custom trap gun out there-----Phil

Dennis is currently building Infinity #217 for me.
Despite my chemotherapy treatments, many and varied diagnostic test and hospital stays, Dennis, Cindy, and Tracy have gone above and beyond the norm
to accomodate me and work around my schedule.
I wanted Turkish Burl and Dennis found it.
I wanted a change to the checkering pattern and Cindy agreed.
I wanted finger grooves in the grip and Tracy set up the mold.
During our phone visit last weekend, Dennis said he would send pictures of the
progress. Upon my release and returning home last night----my pics were here.
Like most, I want everything completed yesterday. I must remind myself that a custom gun is a lot like good sex------you can have it quick, or you can have it right!
I am confident #217 will be "right".

Whoa....that's weird, I agree with Gordy. Anyone have a thermometer?

Anyway, I learned long ago in the car biz that there is always going to be a small percentage of people that you CAN NOT satisfy, no matter how hard you try. It's just part of doing business and something that you have to accept.

It takes all kinds.

I have to agree with Tron--the most difficult thing in business is have to deal with varied personalities of your customers---I had one customer who I told I would do the entire job for free, he said, "TOO MUCH"--he wanted me to pay him for his time---he was retired----Phil

Well it is time to tell the rest of the story,

The gun in question was sent here for a custom stock and that work was performed. Several months after completion the stock it was sent back here because the man's buddy drilled a hole in the bolt area and went through the side of the stock. The stock was repaired and returned alond with a delrin rib. The delrin rib was installed on a 35" barrel and our manual mill does not reach the whole 35" length. The customer requested that the gun be set up to shoot 15" high. The rib was installed and the gun was patterened by myself and Dean DeBow. We concluded that the gun did shoot 15" high. I informed the customer that he was to shoot the gun let me know where the gun shot for him and if he was not satisified with the POI or the workmanship the barrel was to be returned and we would install a new rib FREE of charge. I received a call about a month ago from the customer asking me to refund his money for the the rib we discounted to start with and he stated that he was sending the barrel to Wilkenson. I asked why we were not going to have the oppertunity to make the new rib and he just said he didn't want to. At that point the customer was told that no refund was going to be given if I was not able to make the work right. I is not a policy of ours to send back something les than perfect to any customer but we were in the middle of the shooting year (May of this year) and the customer wanted the gun back right aeway. He stated that if the rib was not to his liking that he would send the barrel back in the fall after the shooting season was completed. As is the trend on this site the person starting this thread will not sign his name so I will not tell you who this person is. As always this is business and no matter how hard you try not everyone can be satisified. Thank you and hope that everyone has a very Merry Christmas and Happy new Year.

When you serve the public, all you can hope for is the opportunity to make it right. We all have been trashed on this site at some point, by some wienerhead that that wants to whine on a public forum. They jump on you like you are the new kid on the block. They jump on those of us who have been in well established businesses for 25years as if we have never seen a complaint before. They engage you from a position of anonimity. Yall noticed that Dennis did not post the guys name. Way to go DeVault. This is a pretty good Ph test for our businesses. If 1 complaint= 10 attaboys that lets you know that you are doing a better job than most service providers in the USA. Todd Nelson

What a farce!!! Took from May to Nov. to decide it wasn't up to snuff? How do we know his "termite" wood borein buddy didn't do a little shade tree (adultery) on other parts of this gun in addition?

Dan, you were way outa line here guy!! First by not allowing Dennis to fix your hurry up job and second posting your BS diatribe here! You should be badmouthing your termite buddy instead! Hap

I don't think that there is a gun manufacturer or gunsmith that can say they have never had a complaint, or customer dissatisfied. There are some people that no matter what, can be pleased; as such the old saying, "you can please some of the people, some of the time, but not all the people, all the time". On the personal side, I have been to his business and his home; and can say that I have never been treated better by anyone. I am lucky enough to own an Infinity, #214; built by Dennis and staff for me, and can say it is the best custom gun I have ever had.

I would like to thank everyone for their support as I have enjoyed many good reports on this site. I have waited for a long timew for it to be my turn and it felt good. Even bad press is still press. This made me get up from my chair and take a walk into my office and look at a 4 draw filing cabinet full of thousands a satisified customers. Having two unsatisified people out of all those thousands over the past 16 years is more than I could ever hope for. As for me personally doing all the work, no I have employees that I have trained and they are great craftsman who do excellent work and I am proud of all of them. Having employees means that I am passing my knowledge along to other people that hopefully can be better than me someday. To many times skilled knowledge is not passed on to another generation and it is a sad day when knowledge dies with the person. Look at our country and it is all you need to see, back in the 70's was able to train with some of the finest craftsman in the world and now all of them are gone and gone with them is the knowledge that too few of us had the opportunity to learn.

Ed Haley, Dennis has worked on several of my guns and I have never been disapointed. I have found him to be a man of his word and if you are not happy, he goe's out of his way to make you happy. His wood working is second to no one. You can't please everyone but I know Dennis doe's his best to try and please his customers. Ed ,I don't know all the facts in your case. Maybe you should have given Dennis a chance to rectify your problem before you took it else where..Just my opinion. Phillip Del Monti

Dennis,

I'm glad to see you were able to defend yourself on this site! The markings of a true gentleman is shown here. Dennis defended himself, and the work of his employee's, without trashing the guy who started this post! Even though he could of.

My hat's off to you Dennis!

The only problem I have ever had with Devault Industries was my credit card bill when I purchased an Infinity. Folks, I have known Dennis for a little less than a year. Same as William Miller, I have been to Dennis' shop and his home. I have met his working crew and his family. There is nothing bad. I do sales for a living, and was President of a gun club for two years. You know what? You can't please everyone. To the person that started this thread, I am sorry you have a complaint. You should have called Dennis and worked it out. Not beat up the Devault Industries crew on a forum. That is BULLSH!!!T! My experience with Devault Industries is nothing but good! Besides the credit card bill, the only other bad experience I can think of is that I saw Dennis wear a thong (check out the pictures on his website). Jesus Quincy Adams that was a sight! If you want something done right and professional give Dennis and Devault Industries a call. You will not be sorry!

I'm not mad at Dennis but my friend for letting me shoot his Infinity I'll never be the same. So Dennis if you have some reject gun that needs a home I'm your guy.
