I had a few of these built for our local club. If you'd like one too just drop me an email. This wobble kit fits any handset Winchester Western Trap V1524. Easily converts from ATA/PITA style oscillation to wobble and back as shown in video. Comes with its own motor and runs on 110 VAC but I've converted these traps to 12 VDC too if interested. Anyway, I was pretty happy with the way this turned out and wanted to show the good folks at TS.com.
Thanks Hap, For $300 bucks it's great fun and gives these old Westerns a new lease on life. Most clubs have these machines just kicking around collecting dust. With our new doubles/singles automatic conversion and this wobble kit a guy could have himself a 5-Stand or Sporting Clays course set up for just over $10K - even less if they have the machines already.
Probably up to 350.00 if it was a direct bolt on and high quality......... plus I think it would open up a bunch of doors for other clubs to convert a few traps that they already have to spice up game nights. You need a product that anyone can install in a rather short order time frame. l.g.
Traploader, I feel LG has a very good idea too! Like you, I like the old traps a lot but they are headed in the same direction as the dinosaurs. The ones I know of are out back models behind barns for the most part.
With the tremendous costs to shoot rising so rapidly, adapting is first on the menu. I look for registered shooting numbers to drop dramatically, it's already began in a lot of areas.
Your add-on will help clubs throwing less targets to have more appeal to those shooters showing up for fun shoots. There's just not enough high dollar shooters to support the game shooting many more targets, those that money means little too. Good luck with your neat idea! Hap
Ian ,that device looks great , we have one of the old wobble traps with the origonal motor and hookup that the guy at Winchester gave me when i went to class out there , but i can't believe you are standing on that side of that machine with it being cocked . Jeff
Thanks for the advice Hap. I agree. Many clubs have these old machines sitting in the shed/barn out back collecting dust. One club nearby had four Western traps. They bought two pat traps and four more handsets and used them for trap, 5 Stand, wobble trap and skeet. They upgraded all their handsets to automatic with our TrapLoader 270 and saved quite a bit of money over buying all new machinery.
