Is an Allem Roller Release trigger worth the extra cash it costs compared to a Phillip's trigger job? The extra cost is approx. $250.00.

Phillips does great and reasonably priced work. Release triggers are not rocket science but can be individualistic. If you don't know what you need try a few first. Roller releases cannot be installed in all guns. A medium release is a good place to start. Too fast and you'll likely let go of it before you get to the target. Too slow and you'll flinch or shoot front and over targets!!

I've had Krieghoff International releases, Timney releases, an Allem old-style release and now have Allem's Roller Releases. I like the Roller Releases best and not just because they feel crisp yet smooth and can be easily tailored to the shooter BY the shooter but because when my son inherits my trap gun, he can convert it back to GOOD pull triggers in minutes. As I learned when I gave him my Krieghoff with Krieghoff releases, you can't always do that when sears are changed to accommodate releases. After having had releases in it, that gun's pull triggers were mushy and inconsistent.

So yes, I think the extra $250 would be money well spent.

NO- NOT worth the difference. I agree with Joe90T and j2jake. I had a BAD experience with ALLEMS. I would NOT own a ZOLI just because they install the releases as the add advertises. They could give a rats ass about you!!!! Sorry thats the way I feel. Jimmy

Allem's Roller Release System can be adjusted by the owner or changed back to pull triggers, with the original feel, by simply changing the roller or removing them. No special tools needed...remove the stock and all you need is a flat bladed screwdriver. If you ever decide to sell or trade the gun you double the number of potential buyers since a simple removal of the roller makes it a quality pull trigger again.

I have or have had, releases by Kolar, Phillips & B. McDaniels. They all work, the original Allem's Release was my favorite till I tried the Roller Releases.

Ohhhh...I must qualify my prior statements with the following...I have not shot any ATA for awhile since health problems keep me from doing that. I struggle to stand long enough to shoot 25 targets and my scores reflect that health condition. What it doesn't preclude is the difference I can feel in the different mfg's. of releases.

I do not have any complaints about either the Allem's Roller Releases or the Allem Family. They have always treated both Myself and my wife Brenda with dignity and friendship. We both treasure their friendship.

The decision which release to buy should be based on experience and not hearsay, name calling, or antimosity alone. Try several different ones and make your own decision.

I have Phillips double releases in by Browning XT. I had a Blaser Combo with Allems double release triggers (Not the roller release as they are not available with a Blaser trigger system) My experience with Allem's has been like a poster stataed above not the best. Allem's certainly has an ATTITUDE or at least the women that answered the phone when I called did. IMHO the Allem's triggers of any type are not worth the price or headache when and if you have to deal with them for a trigger tune up or repairs. "Phillip's all the way"

Just my Opinion,

I have a roller release that I bought second hand. I have had a regular Allems release, two Phillip's releases, a Bowen and a McDaniels. I never dealt with the Allems so can't comment on that aspect but the roller release seems to be the most consistent of the bunch and the ability to tune it to your liking by changing rollers is worth the difference in my opinion.
