Both of the subject loads have about the same recoil...which load would would you rather shoot for singles?

I wouldnt shoot single with 1oz, or less, with a velocity over 1150. Your shooting 16 yds. Why drop so much powder? Go pattern those loads u listed. The 7/8 oz loads will have a hole in the pattern @1250 fps. Stay with the 1 oz @1150. I actually shoot my 1oz at 1125 due to a mod choke on my model12. Pattern is very consistent.

Given those choices, I would rather shoot the 7/8 oz load. No hole in either pattern.

My current loads with those shot charges are 7/8 oz at 1350 and 1 oz at 1250. The 1 oz is primarily for Sporting Clays.

I am considering dropping the one ounce load to 1200 fps. Likely will not notice the difference on breaks, but will notice a little less recoil. As well as my Blaser fits, recoil is a non issue.

Load both and shoot them. With me having a modified choke I did notice holes in my pattern. Shooting a full choke probaly not. But what I dont get it why u would want a lighter shot drop and a faster fps ? Dont want to buy another powder bushing? I guess your gun setup will tell u which is right for u. I was at 1175 fps and experimented dropping it to 1125 with no effects on my singles loads. In fact still dont see a difference up to 21 yds.

I'd rather keep the velocity of both loads the same at 1200fps, because the POI will differ too much if you don't. My bunker barrels handle both well, so I'd rather shoot the 7/8oz. Less recoil. If I was at all worried that there were not enough #8 pellets in the load to do the job (I'm not), I'd drop to #8 1/2.

Since I can smoke singles targets with my 20b 7/8oz #9 @ 1135fps skeet loads or #8 @ 1135 Sporting loads, I don't feel under gunned with 7/8oz @ 1200 in my 12.

If registered ATA targets? 1 1/8 oz only.

I try to put as many troops out there as I can working for me.
If you are a quick shooter from 16, 1 1/8 oz of 8 1/2 shot really produces smoke.
Not so good in high wind situations however.

For practice, I shoot 1 oz to conserve lead.
HOWEVER, I try to down load so that I can achieve the same FPS speed as with 1 1/8 oz.
The speed of the shot in practice should be as close to equal to that which you are going to shoot in registered meets.

As I get close to a shoot date, I practice with what I am going to shoot at the meet.
