Go to their site and tell them. I told them they lost 600 gun club members because of their stupidity. It turns out the origial Dick's son has the company now and does not like guns.

Happy Spandex to him. Yuppie crap will not sell well when times get rugged.

Never been in one but now I glad I never have, I have to drive by two Academys, one Cabela's and one Bass Pro Shop to get to them

Sue them. You do have a contract with them and now they are not for filling their end of the contract. They are now changing their agreement and not completing their side. Its not like they can't get the gun at all they just don't want to. Why should it be your fault.

Take the case to your area small claims court with your paperwork. You don't need a lawyer but what you have to show the court about the agreement.

To me its the principal of the matter.

I used to go in there for golf stuff, I stopped going in there for even that several years ago. Horrible prices, uninformed staff, not a very good selection. Even before this dumb decision they had removed any need for me to spend money there. Way too many other places who are more than willing to treat me like a customer should be treated, I don't have to put up with the combination of arrogance and ignorance.

I can't see how these big box stores have so many repeat customers anyway. All of them rake you over the coals . Every since they drove the little guntrader and gunsmith out years ago. I just got a gift card to Gamalies which I have never bought anything their but have been there with others. I'm just trying to figure out how the best way to retrieve the cash. Just the thought of using the card their turns me off but I guess I'll have to end up pissing it away their. Bill

I don't understand exactly what happened with "not honoring prior sales."
Did you order a gun and pay for it, and they didn't have the gun and wouldn't refund your money? I can't believe they would do that.

Dick's has supplied shotgun shells for a good price for a long time. They have specials on shells nearly every week. Gun Clubs, Super Targets, Top Gun - all in
the $5 to $5.50 range. They make it easy to get shells when you need them because their stores are everywhere.

I believe that's pronounced "Cheesedicks".

Posted a note on our gun club bulletin board that NOT ONE member should buy anything at Dicks due to their recent kneejerk reaction to the CT shootings.

My one AND ONLY dealing with Dicks took place a few years ago. In their newspaper insert ad they offered good prices on AA loads. I went to buy a flat and first they only had two boxes on the shelve. I asked if there were more in the storeroom. The clerk brought out some other hunting loads and said that these were what was on sale. I pointed out that the ad stated and showed AA as the shell on sale. He told me that these were the same thing. (I have to wonder if that idiot even knew which end of a shotgun to put to his shoulder.)

Then he went back and brought out some second tier shells, maybe Gun Club or Top Guns. I told him I wanted the shells that were advertised Win AA. Eventually he brought out a flat of Sporting Clays Winchesters. Then I had to take them to the front counter because he could not ring them up back in the gun department.

At the front counter they took my credit card but the sale rung up at full price. I pointed out that these were the shells that were advertised as being on sale. They said the ad showed AA and these were Winchester shells and not the AA shells that were on sale! I called for the manager. Eventually he came out and I pointed out that the box said Winchester AA. He had no idea. At this point I was ready to just walk out but since they had already rung up the sale, but I had not yet signed the credit card ticket, I wanted to be sure to receive either shells at the sales price or a full cancellation with receipt showing that there was no charge on my card.

The manager said he would have to go and check in the office to see what was on sale. I picked up one their inserts and showed him their own ad. Then he "had to go to the office" to get the proper information. About 20 minutes later he came back out. He told me his computer was "down" and he could not connect to the main office or some such similar BS. For the entire time I simply waited in the checkout line, with people backed up behind me for the entire time. I was not about to leave the register until things were finished properly. When he returned, he finally did tell the clerk to ring up the sale at the price in the ad. I took my shells and properly charged receipt, and walked out the door. That was my one and only visit to that bunch of Dickheads anywhere!

Got a Dick's gift card for Christmas. Looking for rubber boots this morning. Didn't have what I was looking for. Noticed guns still on the shelf. I talked to the guy behind the counter who said there is a lot of misinformation out there. Possibly started by some anti-gun over zealous reporter or NETWORK. Although he did admit the store in Newtown stopped selling guns. Dicks was started here in Binghamton NY. But I'm told by a former employee that Eddie, CEO and deceased owners son does not like guns. I am sure he likes money and gun buyers bring in their families who buy other things adding to the bottom line. I would check with the Dick's in your area to see if they still sell guns and I would flatly refuse a gift card in place of the gun I ordered and demand cash. ed nichols

Despite the similarity in names, I have no connection to Dick's Sporting Goods - so I don't think I get special treatment when I go to the store in Durham, North Carolina.

They had Top Guns on sale for $5.17 a short time ago. I asked if they had any flats, and they said all the shells were on the shelves. I put about 15 boxes in my shopping cart. At checkout, one of the employees brought me a couple of boxes to put them in - I didn't have to ask.

A couple weeks later Gun Clubs were on sale, and I picked up some of those.
The people in the gun department are alway helpful. They don't know as much about guns as I do, and I don't expect them to.

They have a pretty liberal return and refund policy. If someone tells me they
ordered a gun - or anything- and paid for it, and they couldn't deliver it and wouldn't return the money, I'm very skeptical.

I bought one of the Troy Carbines's that caused all the problems. They were a special pre-order only deal for $799 during black friday week.

Dick's ended up pulling all AR's after Sandy Hook and filled some of the orders.

At some point they decided to stop selling AR's all together and cancelled the pre-sale rifles.

They did refund the money and also overnighted a $100 gift card and an apology letter to those who did not have their orders filled.

The problem is Dick's sold a $1199 rifle for $799. Prices have doubled since then and there aren't many AR's to be found. Some feel the $100 is not enough.

I don't have a horse in this race I received mine and have since sold it. The last one I saw on GunBroker sold for $2200.

Orders from any retailer do get cancelled from time to time, the problem most folks seem to have is Stephen Troy could have filled the orders, Dick's chose not to.
