Finally found the Model 70 Carbine I have been looking for only to find no ammunition available. Looking for 100 gr. Winchester Silvertips preferably but becoming more flexible. Able, Midway and Cheaper than Dirt all out. Any help appreciated.

Go to any local gun show. That stuff is not that out of date. I tried to find .30 Remingtons here last summer. Went on line and the only stuff I could find was $2.50 a round. Went out to the gun show and found it at 3 different tables for under $1.00 a round.

Lets make this easy for ya................

First get some 22-250 brass,and a set of 250-3000(250 savage)reloading dies.....take the 22-250 brass,and run them thru the 250 savage dies.........load them,and shoot them.................pretty simple.
As always use reloading manuels, and stay within guidelines of said material.

Oskerspap has the solution. If you don't handload, maybe this is the time to start. A decent single stage press with dies powder measure and scale would cost less than 100 rounds of factory loaded 250s and then you could make any kind of ammo you want for around $10 a box.

BTW, the .250 is a great round and a pleasure to shoot. One of the guys that use to take me deer hunting as a kid had a Savage M99 in that caliber and if I hounded him enough he would let me shoot a few rounds now and then. I always wanted one of my own but never did get one.

If you bought a Winchester M-70 Carbine made in the 80's the rifle is twisted one turn in 14 inches (1/14) and not the 1/10 that is mostly use now. Doubtful
the rilfe will shoot the 100 grain bullets except maybe the 100 gr Speer or 100 gr Hornady spire point. The Speer 87 grain handloaded bullet shoots very well in the 1/14 twist as it does in most Savage M-99's.

I re-size the Winchester 22/250 nickel cases to .25 caliber. They make a nice looking little round and shoot bug size groups.

Just sayin'.

Steve - Thanks so much. I will take the 3 boxes of shooters but don't really need the collectible box. Neat though. Pls. send me your address and I will get the money to you ASAP. I will take delivery anyway you want to send.

Mflora............save your brass........you'll have fireformed brass for your rifle..........from there on just neck-size only.......(by the way,go to leeprecision.com)take a look at a single stage kit.......the hand press kit is only $64.00,get a set of their dies....250-3000sav,and a loading manual(READ IT).Go to you local gun shop, and get a Lb of powder,a couple hundred primers, and box of Nosler 100 gr. ballistic tips.Almost done.......get a good powder scale, and use it precisely.Good luck, and good shooting.
Its not really that expensive........check it out.
