I am two weeks post op. and doing well. I already know that I will need glasses to get everything sharp, but thats not a problem for me. Surgery was easy for me and no problems so far.
You have to do it. I had my left eye like looking through was paper. I realized if I hurt my right eye I would be dead in the water. If I was fishing I would REALLY be dead in the water.
Easy operation, half awake no pain hard to remember anything except the light above and a little talking.
Do not, repeat Do not let them have one ey for disatance and one for close. If you are a shooter you want 20-20 distance vision. You will be a little plus for close but your shooting will be great.
I use 2 dollar readers for the newspaper in the morning, and if the light is bright enough I see cloe without glasses.
It was easy. Had my right eye done about 2 years ago and I am going in to have the left eye done on Wed. Hope I pull the right lever at the polls. Bulge.
I had Updegraff here in St. Petersburg, FL do mine. Opted for the crystal lens. Vision is perfect. No problems. Will start shooting again. However since I'm married I don't score any more.

Had both done in the last six weeks. Shot my first targets yesterday. Absolutely perfectly clear targets. It took a while to get use to shooting at something I could see rather than shooting fast and hoping for the best. I would recommend the surgery to anyone that wants to see again. I had the distance only done. So, I have to use $2.00 readers for close-in. But, that's OK, the targets are bright and clear, and thats what I wanted.

I had my left eye done Oct 31. My Dr told me the cataract was a 10+, on a scale of 1-10, 10 being bad. The surgery is no picnic, BUT if you wait until your vision is unbearably blurry, as mine was, your surgery will be like mine - lots of digging around and more work than the Dr would like to do. The eye is an organ that doesn't react well to lots of tinkering. My Dr would rather have been in and out in 10 minutes. So, find the right Dr (mine has done over 30,000 lens replacements) and have it done.
Interesting thread. My right dominant eye is somewhat clouded by cataract. Left eye, no so much. Still having right eye issue with vitreous detachment. Due for a eye exam in the next month or so. Last time he said "leave it be". I seem to see targets reasonably well, so I do not blame my eye for my recent miserable scores. Having trigger issues but having better days occasionally now.
Jack, you only think you see them well. Given your issues you already know to search around for someone with a level of expertise you're comfortable with. Good luck, Bob
Had both of my eyes done in November 2005. I see my surgeon annually for the follow through check up, no problems to date. Best thing I ever done, GO FOR IT!
If you live in Lancaster County Pa. I can give you my surgeon name. Just let me a private message here on TS.com. under "private messages".
