I have noticed a lil dishing in my crimps and thought it was the shot drop but there is 1 oz when I want and 3/4oz when I want. I don't have 5lbs of pressure on my wad on the powder so my next guess is my powder is alil dense. Could someone suggest more bulky powders to me or anyone else who may want to know?
The green duster works best I believe with 1oz, I would set zero wad pressure with 700x and let the crimp set the wad depth. if that doesnt help and you are using a mec you need to adjust the cam on the final crimp.
Go to the MEC site and look at the bushing chart. Pick any bushing number and scan aross the chart for the weights it drops. You'll find Hodgdon Clays is about the bulkiest powder. For instance, a #30 would have a nominal drop of 18.2 grains of 700X, but only 16.7 grains of Clays. But then, it would depend on what performance you were after as to whether it would make a difference in a certain recipe.
I wouldn't expect problems with 1oz. Are you seeing the dished crimps with 1oz or more with 3/4oz? With 3/4oz a taller wad like the WAA12SL is probably needed. I would switch wads instead of powder.
Greendot is not an equivalent burn speed to 700X powder.
