I was wondering if anybody has found anything(other than moleskin) to use to raise the comb level on field grade stocks(uncut combs). We are going to help the kids in the Aim program by patterning their guns, and using moleskin for elevation. Are there any other alternatives other than moleskin?????

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nothing that cheap.

There are several add on products made, one is a nylon sleeve you pull over the stock with some foam pieces in different heights, like 1/16 to 1/2, maybe more, that you place on top pf the comb, and pull the sleeve over it.

Called beartooth comb raising kit

Back when my Grandpa was shooting Trap, he said guys would literally tape sponges to their comb to raise the POI. I would think that would make the moleskin look like a custom stock. :)

Gamaliel's has numerous products similar to moleskin to raise the POI. They usually all involve an adhesive back like the moleskin but come in various thicknesses. I believe the product is made from very soft Sorbothane.

P.S. I have never used this product before so I do not know much about it. The reason I know about it, is a boy on our High School Trap team has it on his comb. He likes it.

Another one is wrapid comb, I have a couple, a wrap around rubber sleeve held together with velcro, nothing touches the stock but soft rubber part plus you can add inserts under it. I like it as it softens recoil to.You just cant get it to high as it can add cast. www.gunsolutions.com

Beretta makes a 1/8 and 1/4" gel pad that clings to the stock and can be
removed and put back on many times - but it's $30.

The best shooters in the country use moleskin. Show them pictures of National
Sporting clays champions Brad Kidd and Cory Kruse with moleskin on the
combs of their $ 5,000 shotguns.

You can buy the two foot rolls that are 4 and 5/8" wide and cut strips off the
end. A little tip: When putting the moleskin on, put a strip on the
shooters side and just over the top of the comb. Put a narrower strip over that
that isn't as far down on the side. Same with the next. The narrowest strip will be on top.

What you'll have is a nicely tapered stack of moleskin that will increase
the height but not the thickness of the comb. Moleskin can normally be pulled
off the wood and reused several times. However, you can't reuse moleskin that
was attached to moleskin, so remove the entire stack of moleskin layers as one unit. You can move that from gun to gun quite a few times as the bottom piece
of moleskin will remain sticky enough to adhere to the wood.
