On the ATA website is press release regarding an extra $100,000 added to the Grand American for 2012. Is this where the xtra ATA fees are going? Just curious where the money is coming from?

I have shot The Grand for over 45 years. Up until about 5 years ago, there was added money for each event. Several thousands of dollars, I believe sgl.s & dbl.s were 1,2 & 3rd score in B,C,D 1 & 2 in A & AA. Handicap was paid down, I can't remember how but I got $200. added for a 98 & 13th overall. High AA & HOA also paid. When the ATA quit selling shells, they quit having added money in The Grand program. Long live the Hampton influence!

That's true V10....but we didn't have to pay to get any of it back.....

At all other shoots that offer added money they state...that you do not have to play any purses to be eligible to win the added money....

No, you didn't have to pay to get any of the Added Money, you just had to win.

This method allows more shooters of varied skill levels to have an opportunity to win some money.

If we had just enhanced the existing Added Money distributions, I'm sure we would have been accused of "feeding the 'Big Dogs.'"

I thought this was added money to the Lewis Class Purses????

If so, yes, you have to pay for joining the Lewis, it is not free.

Just because the entry fee it is set so high, does not make it a rip off.

If this was added money as applied to the event prize, then yes everyone would be eligible to shoot for it.

"The ATA is charging shooters $100 entry for this option, we are actually shooting for our money, just a way to BLIND EVERYBODY."

So to blind everyone we must understand 1000 shooters must pay $100 to make up the money needed to fund this venture. BTW since when don't you pay to play the lewis????

Thank God the government isn't in charge of ATA.

The would certainly please DLS, by leveling out the playing field and giving everyone a ribbon for showing up at a shoot.

BIGDON You don't read the post correctly that wrote, or you just comprehend only what you want to comprehend.

ATA announces $100,000 dollars of added money, but to get the added money a shooter has to pay $100.00 to enter and it pays only on the total 900 targets shot.

I don't care how you read this it is not ADDED MONEY, Added money is money that can be won w/o buying into it. It's a farce.

I am not bashing the ATA like you want it to seem.

Just be honest about ADDED MONEY.

It is a way to get more shooters to shoot the total 900 targets, that's great
but do not mis-lead shooters.

I don't slam any one on this site like you do BIGDON that is why I challenged you in the first place.

I find you to be extremely rude to fellow shooters and new shooters especially
you being on the All American Team, I have never seen another All American act the way you do.

BIGDON I have been shooting registered targets 21 years longer than you and I shot those 3 hole targets you have never ever seen.

Pat Traps, and Voice calls have made a big difference in this game.

I am 100% for new shooters, not against them like you.

BIGDON didn't even post on this thread. Are you sure you took your meds this morning?

....................................................................

DLS,

From the ATA PDF file explaining the added money.

"ATA GRAND 900 LEWIS"

Name another Lewis that you do not have to pay an entry fee. The ATA added money into a special Lewis thus there is an entry fee.

Are you planning on going to the Grand or are you just complaining about something that doesn't pertain to you as usual?

The point is that we are not shooting for our own money when it comes to the Lewis Added $100,000, as LS claimed. We pay $100 to enter the Lewis, and the ATA pays out ALL of that money, PLUS they are throwing in an additional $100,000 being paid shooters over and above the Lewis pool. Those are the facts. The comprehension problem is with the guy that reads that and then proclaims "we are actually shooting for our own money". Go figure.

To most anyone, it is clear the ATA is trying to pump up the money avalable in a Lewis Class option so more shooters get a chance at it as opposed to just those winning trophies. For years, many have complained that the Lewis wasn't worthwhile anymore, and they are just trying to help out in that direction.

"I don't care how you read this it is not ADDED MONEY"

Amazing SB, its not added money. Tell us if they don't get enough entries to cover the money ($100,000) where will they get???? From those that didn't sign-up to shoot for it. OR WILL THEY HAVE TO ADD MONEY TO THE POT TO MAKE UP THE DIFFERENCE?

Any way you slice it it is added money it won't come from the money tree DS
