Come across this in my stuff. Is it an old shell catcher? If so what gun will it fit? I put it on my 1100 and its fits on the bolt handle but looks like it will scrape the wood when cycled. If someone knows what it is and wants it let me know.

sts1100 has it right. Unless it is bent or somehow not installed correctly, it should not scrape the forend...but watch out you don't pinch your fingers under it if you are holding too close when you close the action.

Actually, these work quite well on 1100s and sell for $25 - $50 here on TS.com from time-to-time. Lucky find. If I didn't already have two of them I would be a customer. Best Regards, Ed

One of the Remington Reps told me adding the extra weight of this tuning fork to the bolt may lead to a cracked receiver sooner? After he told me that, I gave mine away not wanting to take that chance. Keep the action spring new to help prevent ruining your receiver if you use one of these!

Weigh the Rem. bolt handle then weigh this fork? AND, as said above, they can hurt you big time too!

The first time I saw on of these was in the early 80's. One of the old farts at Chanute AFB, who was probably younger then than I am now, was using one on the skeet field. It looked like a Chinese fire drill. Plug fork in to shoot singles, load a shell, shoot, work the hull out and put in a pouch, load another shell, shoot, work the hull out and put in a pouch, take fork out, place fork in pouch, load two shells, shoot doubles, bend down and pick up two shells...

Hap, I think the Remington Rep was blowing smoke. The added weight would slow down the bolt assembly (bolt, action bar, action bar sleeve), much the same way a heavier magnum action bar sleeve are by some shooters used to reduce felt recoil.

Hey Guys,

I bought this from Chris,

I never used one on an 1100, I have just seen them on them from a distance

I have a question, Did they make these for 20 gauge? reason I ask is the "fork" is not open enough to fit a 12 gauge hull, But a 20 gauge fits all the way down the opening.

Any one that has one can you tell me if the 12 gauge hull fits in the slot or not.

Thanks Doug
