First and for most do not think of a negative affirmation. Something like "don't miss the target" keep your affirmation positive like most of the post above.

I think the best thing to do is just keep your mind clear. Don't worry about the target as far as thinking what you should be telling yourself because that is your first mistake, THINKING.

I know the moment I start counting my losses and the guy's next to me I fall apart. Or if I starting telling myself what I should be doing like break the target, wood on wood, follow through I fall apart.

A friend told me that I should not want to be tall and thin. For trapshooting, "You need to weigh 300lbs and have no neck, which makes you a possible front runner in my book".

He said look around you, most of these shooters look like they came from a Weight Watchers convention and they should be competing against Kobayashi, the worlds hot dog eating champion.

Get your gun fit properly by someone who knows what they are doing, like Dennis DeVault & Dean DeBow. Love those guys. Take the blame away from the instrument and you can work on your shooting issues.

In shoot-offs and major pressure points while shooting, remember to BREATHE. When we get excited we breathe shallow, so make a conscious effort to focus on your breathing and get that oxygen in there!
