Looking for something thats good for day to day use.

I'm using RIG grease now, and it works flawlessly, but its messy (I don't want to put my gun directly into my americase when its still covered in RIG, I've been putting it in gun socks, which further adds to the pain in the butt factor), and takes considerable time to apply and remove.

I'm hoping to find something I can apply and not have to worry about removing before I use the gun again. Also hoping for something that I can apply to my gun, then put my gun into the case w/ out worrying about it making a mess.

I have to apply fairly religiously, as my gun will rust pretty quickly if its humid outside or there is a temperature differential (taking a cold gun into a warm house). I find myself spending 5-10 minutes a day in the middle of a shoot b/w applying and removing the RIG grease.

Barricade,
and dont be wiping down with cloths, use your fingers, else youll scrub your bluing.
Cloths hold carbon grits and debris, which become abrasives.
Never wipe off, just add more, and massage it in.

Ballistol is all natural and good for your skin, same as above.

Tetra gun oil is another mention.

It should be said your gun should never be stored in its hard case as is,only for transport.
I keep my gun oiled/wiped as above, fully assembled in a boyt softcase, which goes into a goldenrod safe.I pull it out, shoot, goes back in case,go home, pull out, clean bore reoil, back in case, back in safe.
If its wet, wipe off as muck water with paper towels before into guncase, get home, pull out and clean, but Ill also dry the inside of the guncase with a hair dryer real good.

GI LSA weapons oil, about $3 a 4 oz. OD squirt bottle at gunshows. Keep a hand towel/rag fairly saturated with it in your gun case, never wash it. Wipe down the metal surfaces before you put it away or after being in the rain. Works good on the "fuzzy" chamber mates too and on your Tico Tool as well. Good luck.

Really if the want tenacious- try "Lucky Duck" which you can get at wallmart usually

It really is good enough to take out in pouring rain

Because it is sold in larger volumne stores it is much cheaper than the other options mentioned

I will disagree with WD40 - I dont think you can get a worse protectorant for a lot of reasons

Militech greases and oils. Nothing I know on the planet lubes or protects any better than this product. It is expensive, but most of the firearms we are talking about here are worth the expense. I use Militech exclusively in my gunshop for lubrication, either their grease or lighter oils.....you asked, that's what I use and think about when it comes to surface protection and friction protection. And I too believe WD-40 has it's place on the bench as a water dispersant, but not as a lubricant....good luck...
