Why do many of the SS guns for sale on this site have recoil reduction units installed?

I am a newer shooter (10 years and 40) I shoot a soft touch on both my doubles gun and single barrel. Once you shoot one you will love it!! I have one on the sietz because i wanted one. I figure the least amount of recoil on any gun the less apt I will be to finch in the future. Try one. The stock lock system and the PFS stocks are also great investments depending on the style and $

Never a big fan recoil devices - but my Seitz came with one - I shoot a fare amount of practice, and let me tell you the soft touch is a great recoil device - you can shoot all day, recoil - whats that? - the only bad thing is shoot more yah pay more!! would highly recommend the soft touch to anyone

Rumor is that the Soft Touch company is for sale.

Don Carey, who first developed the system used by Soft Touch, is now retired from the stock recoil device business but is still selling the Carey Side-Sighter. I would have quit trapshooting 20 years ago without the Carey Comb.

Clyde Cameron, developer of the "Clyde Slide" has a loyal group of users. All these guys should be getting some gratuity from the ammo companies since their customers are able to shoot lots more using these recoil dampening devices.

JCL:

yes, SS does offer a recoil reducer as a factory option.

When I went to their facility in Parkton MD, that was one of the choices when I ordered the gun. They have 2 types I believe, one being magnetic.

I didn't order it, and don't have any awareness of recoil having now shot the gun for 3 - 4 months. But, I also sent the barrel down to Tom Wilkinson to have the barrel tuned and have it fitted for screw-in chokes, and I remember him saying that he softens out an angle in the barrel, so perhaps that's why my gun doesn't recoil as others do.

Interestingly, I didn't have to send him my entire gun -- just the barrel. Tom shoots a Silver Seitz, so he mounted the barrel on his gun when testing the pattern.
