I shoot at Skyway at least once a week. The State of Florida has mandated that we shoot steel only. No big deal. I see all makes of guns with no problems with steel and no complaints. K's P's ect. Anyone shoot waterfowl in Fla?.........Steel only.
If you don't have choke tubes then don't worry about it. What gun are you shooting? You can get steel shot from Ballistic Products on line. They have wads and recipes as well.
3200 and a 90T, thanks, I will have to look into this as I am going to spend some time in Bradenton this winter. Sarasota and The Silver Dollar are within driving distance too.
I'm loading the following with good results. Wad from BP, but Shot cheaper from Precision. By it at the 40lb increment and have them ship it in the Medium priority mail box. My loaded cost per the TS calculator is $4.89/bx. With lead at $42/bag around here that's actually cheaper than my lead load which is running $5.01/bx.
Fiocci hull/Fiocci primer/19 grains Green dot/VP53 7/8 oz wad/#7 steel.
Auctioneer... having patterned a few of my guns using #7 steel, the old adages don't always follow through... My Brownings pattern "full" using a #1 choke - and the IM (#2) just doesn't get there. My 90T with its fixed "full" patterns nicely and tight, but again to a "full" pattern...
Small/Slow steel appears to pattern differently from Large/Fast hunting loads.
Auctioneer - the choke companies have different rating systems for steel versus lead, so you always need to go by constriction to really know what you have.
