From time to time Brian my cad and machine person does projects in his off time on guyns at the shop. I wanted to show this off as I thought it was a unique item and just a little different. It is a .40 caliber round ball muzzle loading target pistol. The grip was all shaped to fit the owners hand. It is an under hammer design and it shoots very well. Mike did the finish work on the wood part. As always enjoy the photos.

Is that a custom mechanism or is it a standard on Muzzleloading target pistols? Its so simple its funny. Having shot alot of different Muzzle loading guns including some wheel guns, i'd love to touch off a few from this one. Nice work to say the least.

To Matt,

Brian told to me that the trigger is a reverse underhammer design and it is not a common item in this type of gun. If you notice the forend was installed to cover the spring and other notches in the forward portion of the barrel. Brian got a call yesterday and was told that he had the high score this past weekend with a 135 out of 140 on point scoring. Since I don't shoot muzzle loaders I am going to say that it was very good. If anyone has any questions about the gun you can call Brian at the shop during the day. 330-456-6070 I am sure for a small price he will build another one if someone is interested.

That is definately a different twist on the normal underhammer design like the old Hopkins & Allen guns.

It would be cool if the trigger sear went farther forward on the hammer to act as a Half Cock/Hammer Block type of safety. This would be good idea for a hunting rifle. A target pistol probably doesn't need anything like that.

I do know, it would have to have a rubberband to be any simpler.

Very neat piece.

To Randy,

I spoke with Brian this morning and he told me that he tried the double notch set up in the first hammer but for target shooting the trigger hit the notch and caused a little movement when target shooting. He is working on a rifle now and there will most likley be a saftey after he sets down on the cad system and does another design. Thank you for the comments Brian does appreciate them. He also told me this morning if someone is interested in having a pistol built we are working on a price to do this as a shop item.
