When reloading shells my finished product always ends up with a small hole in the center of the final crimp - this is only about the size of a pellet of #8 shot. What is the proper adjustment to make to alleviate this situation? I have a 366 reloader. Thanks.
What componets are you using??????? if AA hulls newer style thats about what mine look like. I would make sure your first crimp is tight enough, about the diameter of a pencill. Then check the rest of your settings. Do you have a book for your reloader?????? if not you can call Hornady they will talk you through the set-up Hope this helps Joel
Try backing your crimp die up about 1/2 turn and the final taper die down about 1/4 turn. What you want to see is the top of the crimped section just barely dome shaped and no hole in the center. Various hulls have different internal volumes, different priming depth adjustments and sometimes even slightly different fired lengths so it helps to load one type at a time and not mix them up.
There are also some differences in internal case volume among hulls of the same brand.
