I have been looking for a nice shotgun for a long time. I think I finally found one, and I'm looking for opinions. I found a used SKB 605, or 506. I can't remember. It is a combo gun. The double is 32" and the trap barrel is 34." It comes with chokes and a case. The price isn't bad for a used combo, and it's in great shape except for a few blemishes on wood, and blueing coming off in high stress point. Does anyone shoot the same model? What do you think of these guns?
Well, I am looking at this combo, because it is a combo. I like to shoot more than trap. It comes with the double and single barrels. All Ported with Hi-Viz sights.
Ask for the serial number on the gun and call SKB. They can tell you when it was made and if there has been any other serious or minor problems with that serious of guns. They might even be able to tell you if that particular weapon has ever been sent back in to have anything done to it or if it should be sent back to have any updates done.
Some models of the older SKBs were known to kick like a mule on steroids ... but I have no clue if that particular model was one of them.
I have heard of the 605's kicking like a mule on steroids just like lumber said. My friend is a big guy and he bought one and when he went to shoot it, it kicked him so badly that he developed a sore and it bled. In my opinion buy a citori plus trap for the same price.
