Are the hulls buckling about 1/2 inch higher than the brass? Does you MEC have plastic dies or the older steel ones?

My first guess is you are trying to put 6 pounds in a five pound sack. The first thing I would try is a shorter wad. Second would be more wad seating pressure to collapse the wad more. If the shot column is under high pressure in the final crimp, the friction forces the shell tube to buckle. Ron

I'm having a bitch of a time with my RCBS Grand and older 20g HS AA hulls. I push the wad in as deap and hard as I can (using AA clones wads). It helps some. Ugly crimp but they shoot. The best so far is I've backed off a 1/2 grain of powder. That seems to have helped the most. I reloaded two new boxes of HS AA hulls that I bought and shot. They crimp almost as good as the factory crimp. If all the new HS AA load as well as these two new boxes and clone wads I'm using all will be well.
