I just purchased a new Browning XS Skeet gun with 28" barrel. The stock kinda looks like its photo finish stock. What I mean is it looks fake. It looks like a cheap piece of wood with some kind of photo finish on it to look like a nice stock. Is this possible?

Respectfully Submitted, Andy

It is probably a dipped stock. Seems to be the trend. I just hope that those stocks that are not real grain are identified, and the buyers are aware of this.

Pull your recoil pad off and see if there is any grain there

I can't pick it up for a full 7 days, which by then I will be on vacation, so it will be 30 days, I will pull the recoil pad off andtake a look.

What is a dipped stock?

Andy

It is called Hydro-Graphics, or Hydro-Dipping. Click the link above. It is done with wood grain pattern over plain wood.

If its been dipped or painted, its not a factory job.
