Somebody please explain how the targets are set for Olympic Trap Doubles.Are they set the same from station to station or differently on every station?Or 3 different presentations on every station?It is hard to tell on TV.Thanks

There are three target settings. Straight away and left target, straight away and right target, and left and right target. In a match 25 pairs of each are thrown. After each 50 targets the set up is changed. HMB

The 3 center traps are used from the 15 trap bunker. Traps 7,8&9 are set to provided the doubles.
Trap 7 is set to a 5 degree left
Trap 8 is at 0 degrees
Trap 9 is 5 degrees right.
There are 3 schemes .
A. Trap 7&8 B traps 8&9 C traps 7&9
Competitors shoot 25 pairs Per scheme for 150 birds total. Then the top six shoot another 25 pairs of scheme c
The rules are expected to change . Rumors have it that you will get 2 of the 3 but the competitor does not know which 2.

Traps 7 & 9 are set at 3m, trap 8 is set at 3-1/2 meters w/ height measured 10m from the face of the bunker. Angles are set as Tom noted. Procedure is also as Tom noted w/ 50 targets ea. scheme A,B,&C and the final scheme C,scheme A-7&8,scheme B-8&9 and scheme C-7&9. Distance is 55m. The targets are shot from stations 1-5 w/ the shooter rotating after each pair. The target appears from 0-1 second after the shooter's call.

This would be the setting you saw on television for finals.
D.9.6.10.4 Finals and Shoot-off Settings
Setting "C" must be used for all Double trap "Finals" and all shoot-offs before and after the "Finals".
Shoot-offs before the FINALS may take place on any designated range. Shoot-offs after the FINALS must take place on the FINALS range.

Dennis, if you've made sense of the new finals format for next year, will you please post it? I'm still trying to sort it out.
