working on a score sheet for shooting. the goal is to add 65% of the diff betwwen the actual score and 50 when the score is below 46. This part works when there is a score in the box, but returns a 33 when the box is blank/empty. the only way I have been able to stop this is to put a letter in the box. The formula then does not know what to do with the letter so nothing is returned. here is the formula

=IF(F3>45,F3,(50-F3)*0.65+F3)

where f3 is the box mentioned above.

Try this (f7 was used to so difference from your F3 formula

=IF(F7<=0,"",IF(F7<=46,F7,(50-F7)*0.65)

pyrdek thanks for the help changed one thing and it worked just fine, but looks like 65% might be a little to much help. if you would like to see it work send me your email and I will send you the file.

The if formulas are pretty sensitive. Sometimes you just have to erase the form and start over and then they work
