Words to live by!!!
Great post Duster! An awful lot of truth in it. Bob
Amen brother ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
Where do you see that Rusty Pipes is George Carlin. He makes reference to a remark or two that were supposed to have been said by Carlin, but by and large it's "Rusty's" remarks. This article doesn't have anything to do with Carlin. Don't like his humor? Don't listen to him, but I would never accuse him of being anti american.
I have listened to George Carlin for years. He is not anti american, he is anti establishment. There is a difference.
Carlin isn't anti-American; he's anti-yahoo, pro-independent thinking and wants America to be better than she currently is (a consummation devoutly to be wished) . To quote the man himself:
"I worry about my judgment when anything I believe in or do regularly begins to be accepted by the American public."
Kathy McLean
Right on, Jbbor! Here are a couple of Carlin quotes that are on point:
Shopping and buying and getting and having comprise the Great American Addiction. No one is immune: when the underclass riots in this couintry, they don't kill policement and politicians, they steal merchandise. How embarrassing.
Anytime you hear businessmen debating "which policy is better for America, don't bend over.
By the way, "liberal" is not a dirty word. In fact, everything you have to say above is a liberal position.
Kathy McLean
Truth or Fiction says it's not Carlin. http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/c/carlin-on-aging.htm
George Carlin has a whole section on his website devoted to disputing rumors about what he has and has not said.
Check it out.
Plenty of businessmen are good; plenty more are bad.
But remember this: America was nothing but a bunch of people sleeping on dirt until businessmen came here. Now you can say that's all noble and simple and crap; but I don't see many people "voting with their feet" by going back to hunting-gathering, or getting on the boat and going back where they came from...so I guess you all done made your choices.
Haven't you?
Ain't it a peach when you hear someone who has made their way in the world, had their career, saved up a nest egg and retired on the capitalist system...and then turns around once they've got what they want, and start bad-mouthing the system that has made us what we are, and telling the rest of us we need to either live like cave-men or convert the whole thing to Socialism?
That kind of stuff sounds real good from a retirement house at the Silver Dollar, or an electricity-hogging 10,000 square foot mansion in Tennessee (complete with electric gate, gas-lamp driveway illumination, and heated swimming pool)...but those of us who are adults (as opposed to "grown-up children") see past it.
Hard to believe that sarcastic bastard came up with this stuff. Must have been one of his writers. Otherwise a funny guy though.
