East Granby, Conn. -- Joe Wheeler won the 8th annual George Kaplan Cup Sunday (May 29) at a registgered ATA shoot at the Hartford Gun Club here. Wheeler shot a combined singles-handicap score of 190 x 200. He shot 97 x 100 in 16-yard singles and his 93 x 100 from the 26-yard line also took the long-yardage handicap group. The annual Kaplan shoot, which included doubles, attracted 105 shooters this year.

B - Charles King, Paul Bruneau - 97

C - Brian Scussel - 97

D - Brian Raab Jr., Joe Carmosino - 94

Handicap - 71 entries

18-21 yd - Brian Scussel - 96

22-23 yd - Kevin Cloutier, Alan Gaynor - 93

24-25 yd - Chris Peters - 91

26-27 yd - Joe Wheeler - 93

Doubles - 35 entries

A - Paul Donovan - 94

B - Bruce Costa - 92

C - Ben Giaquinto - 88

D - Walter Rebello - 88 Combined

Joe Wheeler - 97 (16 yd) & 93 (hd) = 190

Am I the only one that finds this addition suspect? Looks like Brian Scussel had a 193 combined. How does the doubles factor in?

AACT is right: You have to play to win. And doubles has no part in the overall Kaplan standings.
