It could've been worse...
Forgetting the Electoral College for just a moment, McCain got nearly half the popular vote and while that doesn't mean much election-wise, that is no mandate on an Obama Presidency, much the same as what was said about Bush's Presidencies.
That said, the democratically controlled Congress was denied its "super-majority" ability to overide fillibusters, so unless some moderate Republican decides to cross the aisle, there is some balance of power remaining.
BHO will be thrown into the deep end of the pool, lets see if that boy can swim?!
A couple of bright side thoughts...
Obama gets replaced in the Senate, Rahm Emanuel gets replaced in the House and any number of possible far-lefties who join the administration, with loss of committee ranking can do us no more harm AND gets them out of Congress...
Just a couple thoughts - keep the glass half-full and focus.
regards to all,
Jay
That is a good out look and we wait till 2010 and 2012. Bob
A growing fear in Illinois is that our "governor", who has one of the lowest approval ratings (earned) will appoint himself to replace Obama which would give the Dems another wierdo vote in the senate. (Of course, as much as he has screwed up our state, maybe he'll be a millstone for the dems.) Might be a change for the better. Guess I'll think on it.
Spitter, we HAVE to hold the republican senators' feet to the fire so they KNOW we are watching. Because WE believed them, saying they WERE repubs, we got what we got. Now if they are rinos, they will have to go the next time they are up for reelection.
What could be worse ???? Secretary of State Flava-Flav. YEEEAAHHH BOYYYYY
BigDog...
No argument from me... I agree with you!
Jay
It looks like Stevens of Alaska is winning. The Gov (Sarah Palin) could ask him to resign and then appoint herself as Senator from Alaska.
ShooterIII,
I have heard some rumblings that that is exactly what is going to happen. Won't that tweak the sheep if it does!

Interesting however just like here in MA. There is some talk about John Kerry being chosen as Secretary of State. That would be the first a Democrat as Senator would be out of office in over twenty years. But have no fear the MA Governor is talking about changing the law so they don't need an election to fill the seat and he can appoint a Democrat to the Seat.
There is no limits to the arrogance of these damn liberals.
