Model 37® firearms with a serial number below 855,000 have barrels that are fixed and non-interchangeable.

The 855,000 mark occurred in 1963.

This being a threaded barrel I assume it is for post 855K guns.

My dad shot a M37 for a short while around 1970.

It is my understanding that the change was not from "fixed" barrels, but from individually fitted barrels to a new threading that was interchangeable. -Ed

Both pre & post 855000 barrels are threaded and removable from the receiver. Newer barrels can be fitted to older guns. Its about 75-100.00 to do it though.

Some later Model 37's had fixed barrels. From 1937 until today most have threaded barrels that are easily removable. Part way through the 63 production year they were made so they could be interchanged without fitting to a particular receiver. Derial # was stamped on early barrels to match receiver they also has a number after the ser. # to designate the choke constriction.
